Man that sounds like the title to a bad porno.

Anyway, the Cardinals should be looking into a:

CB:

DT:

TE:

OG:

RB:

I think we would be complete if we filled these positions. Fill in the blanks, who will be starting in that position in 2005. It can be a free agent, a draft pick, or somebody who is already part of the team.

Go for it!
Peace

CB: 1st round draft choice Antrel Rolle and Macklin

DT: Staying with who we have on our roster, Dockett and Davis

TE: Alex Smith, 3rd round pick out of Stanford

OG: ugh...

RB: JJ Arrington, 2nd round pick. His speed should complement shipp or hambrick, whichever wins the backup sweepstakes.

I'm hoping we can land this guy; he's a hoss. But, I think we'd need to take him in the third. He's usually listed as the 5th best or so G in the draft.

CB - Renaldo Hill and Pac Man or Rolle.

DT- late draft pick.

TE-Vet, Mili? 1st 3rd rounder Alex Smith, Stanford or the Jones kid from Arkansas.

OG - 3rd or 4th round pick. Possible 2nd if Bass or another top OG falls.

RB- 2nd round pick, or T. Henry (from Shelton trade?). Pick - Arrington, Morency or Barber (Fason will be gone)

QB - BPA available in last 3rd (from Pats) pick. I think thats why they got that pick, for another young QB prospect. Either Campbell, Orton or Walter. I don't know anything about McPherson , but he'll go in 2nd from what I've heard.

MLB - Orlando Huff

Man, if we can snag Matt Jones in the 3rd I'll be STOKED!

Anyway, not that I'm any type of expert but a stud RB will help this team more than a stud CB. With the rule changes CBs aren't anywhere near the class of RBs. If you went around the league and asked every GM who they'd build a franchise around it's going to be QB followed closely by RB. We've got our QB but that devastating runner is missing. Add to that the fact that our D is going to creat some serious pressure on opposing QBs so we're not going to need the best CB in order for us to shut down the opposition.

That being said:

1) RB Ronnie Brown/Cedric Benson/Carnell Williams (in that order for whoever is available)
2) CB
3) TE Matt Jones (Hopefully his not having played a down in college besides QB will give a us a chance in the 3rd).
3b) CB
4) DT

I'm pretty sure we'll re-sign Hill and Mili will probably sign as well. Both will get around $1.5M year/avg.

I don't know if we can afford Hartwell. It depends on Okeafor and Griffin's cap numbers, the cap hit by trading LJ and who G&G are planing to cut. We have the money to sign him right now, but we're probably a little shot if we factor in Boldin's expected $5M raise.

I'm still convinced that we'll eventually trade Shelton (I certain that we don't get the $3M cap hit that Somers is reporting) for the Bucs' 2nd.

1. Rolle (Both Cadillac and Brown are gone at #8 and we go for the best CB)

1b. We give up the Bucs' 2nd and a 4th round to trade up and secure RB Fason in the bottom of the 1st.

2. BAP - which probably means another CB or a G, since the draft is very deep at both positions. Michigan G Baas should there at #44.

3. Again BAP - Could be a CB or LB

3b. A lot of mediocre DTs in the draft this year. A two-gap will fall to us with the final pick in the 3rd.

4. Traded to moved up and get Fason

5. BAP - Well that's easy. Maurice Clarett.

7. BAP - TE/OT/G/QB

Yep, he will be gone by the 4th round easily. And we would have to take him with our 1st 3rd rounder as well if we really want him.

I really think we should draft according to "best player" after the first round. For example, if it's a question of drafting Arrington at #44 or should David Baas drop to us, I'd be tempted to draft Baas as the eventual solution to our RG and backup center "challenges" - even though RB may be a greater need than guard. That said -

CB - First Round: Rolle or Rogers. Troll rounds 3 - 4 for a cover guy we can install as our #3 or if feasible, re-sign Hill to play #3.

NT - Bring back Refrigerator Perry or brainwash Wendell B 'cause there's no one in the draft or free agency worth adding - at least on the first day.

RB - Second Round: Arrington. Trade for Bennett if you can get him for our late 3rd round pick or later

KR - Sproles if still there in Round 4.

TE - If we've given up on Hartwell, squeeze in Mili or someone of similar talent

MLB - If we've given up on Hartwell, Huff (for depth)

G/C - Want a road-grader first (We'll teach him to pass block) if the right value drops to us in the right round.

I wasn't too far off here... Smith was picked only 4 spots ahead of us in the 3rd. I wonder if we would have taken him if he had fallen to us?
