It was good. Great special effects and good emotion. But not great.

I just saw this tonight. I read the book a while ago and I remember thinking that there was no way the story could be made into a movie. I think the movie was visually fantastic and I love the story. Definitely a must see.

Fantastic.

Although, (and expectedly) it didnt follow the book as closely as one would hope. but thats fine. The book would probably make an extremely psychological, albeit, boring to some, movie.

If youve never read the book youll love it. If you have read the book youll really like it.

So on a scale of 1 to 5 it's what about a 3.14?

It is a very good movie and unlike the trailer suggest it does not life off of special effects at all. They are nice eye candy but the movie could do well without.

slin, that entire movie was one HUGE special effect. the only real thing in the movie was pretty much the kid and the boat. everything else around him was an FX, as the majority of the movie was shot in a tank.

doesn't mean it wasn't a great story as well, but the FX were incredible and a major draw for the movie. still the best use of 3D I've seen since Avatar.

Wow...I don't know. Just watched this the other day. Maybe If I had seen this in 3D or something I would have liked it more. Seemed like a giant FX experiment to me. The story wasn't all that engaging IMO and some of the FX were uneven. Some really really good and others.....meh.

Not sure this is one I would add to my library.

Did you read the book? Knowing the story and watching it come to life on screen was amazing to watch for me.

Without having gone through the experience of reading the book, I probably would have just thought it was an above average film.
