BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) -- Former USC quarterback Matt Leinart, who was drafted by the Phoenix Cardinals with the 10th overall pick last weekend, has been signed to a multiyear endorsement deal by Nike.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed by Nike, which also inked former Vanderbilt quarterback Jay Cutler. Cutler went to the Denver Broncos with the 11th overall selection.

Leinart's Trojan teammate, Reggie Bush, announced before the draft that he had signed with Adidas. Bush went with the second overall pick in the draft to the New Orleans Saints.

Vince Young, the Texas quarterback who went to the Tennessee Titans with the draft's third overall selection, signed with Reebok, which was acquired by Adidas.

Nike's stable of football players include quarterbacks Tom Brady of the New England Patriots and Michael Vick of the Atlanta Falcons.

"We are excited and thrilled to welcome Matt to the Nike Family," Bill Kellar, Nike's football category director, said in a statement. "He is a strong and talented athlete, with a bright future ahead of him."


At least coming to Az didn't prevent him from getting endorsements. a very good sign to future free agents.

I don't care if he holds out this year...he's not drafted to be the starter. Let him get the deal he wants and we want. No rush..no hurry.

Finally, the luxury of drafting for the future in the first round...not the present.

you still want him in camp. it will be leinart bennifit to be in camp learning the game. get a contract done with all the rookies. i can't wait. it is tradtional for the cardinals to sign the 1st draft last during training camp. i believe last season was the first season the cardials were able to get their first round pick signed before training camp
