I was at the scrimmage last night... there's not a lot to say about it.
Nash, Frye & Dudley looked in mid-season form.
Gortat was ok, but had foul trouble.
Lopez had flashes of decent & flashes of horrible... he got out-rebounded by Steve Nash at one point (Nash jumped up and stole the ball away from him).
Hill... didn't do much, he was the only starter on the 'B' team
Warrick - same old, same old. Ugly shot, no defense, only good for slashing to the basket for dunks.
Childress - same old, same old. Took a lot of ugly 3ptrs that missed badly, airballed a free throw, only good slashing to the basket & getting offensive rebounds.
New Guys:
Shannon Brown - guy was a gunner last night... probably took half the shots for his team when he was in the game. He's also streaky like Quinton Richardson, Tony Delk, Eddie House.... sucked in the 1st qtr, then got hot in the 2nd & 3rd. One positive... he can create his own shot... he's got a decent amount of dribble moves to create space & will ball fake & drive by his defender. He finished around the basket pretty well.
Telfair - had flashes of quickness & being able to break down a defense, but only showed it when the shot clock was running out... other than that, he really didn't run any kind of an offense or distribute the ball well. When he did penetrate, he struggled finishing at the rim.
Ronnie Price - pretty good defensive PG, has some quickness... didn't really show much for offensive PG skills. He did stand out more than Telfair at times though.
Marcus Landry - reminds me of a shorter Earl Clark... he tries to use dribble moves to create space & likes shooting deep jump shots. He took multiple 3ptrs and missed them all. Towards the end he made 2-3 20ft jumpers. He looked like he was trying too hard to make something happen.
Dwight Buycks - Probably the most impressive PG after Steve Nash. The guy plays with tenacity defensively... he had multiple steals on defense & pestered everyone he guarded. He showed about as much offensive ability as Telfair & Price.
Mark Morris: Was held out for precautions because he banged his knee in practice... he was walking around on it fine though (no limping, no crutches).
