I don't understand this, does that mean we took a RG with the #2 overall pick, if the Cards did that, thats ********. Its time to move Davis to LT

Oh....you mean one of those "seive" guys the national media talked about.

Poor Emmitt....he's gonna get killed. If I were the Cards offensive line coach I'd plaster those seive remarks and Emmitt's gonna get killed all over the locker room.....you know....motivational stuff.

This can't be true. Too many posters have said LJ will be traded. ;)

But wouldn't he be worth more in a trade if he was signed to a reasonable long-term deal?

With regard to drafting Leonard to "play right guard." That's not written in stone. There was mention by either Sully or the new O-line position coach or Graves that at least the possibility of shifting LJ to * was under consideratiom.

You guys amaze me. After all the bitching about how the Cardinals always wait til the last minute to negotiate contracts instead of extending them when they're under less pressure, you're ripping the team for doing what many would consider to be a smart football move.

Imagine how cool it would be to go into 2004 with our O-line still intact and stable because the team had the foresight to extend Shelton earlier rather than later.

I think you are misreading what everyone is saying (other than maybe Devon). I like this, and I love the fact that the Cards are trying to be more proactive instead of being reactive.

Krang, Please excuse my stupidity, but who is that pic of under your screen name? Is that YOU or a Cardinal player or what? Living in MD I really don't know many players by face, but put a jersey with their # on it and I'll call off the whole team for you.

BTW- Is there anywhere I can go to familiarize myself with the players? Somewhere I can match names with faces?

I think you are looking at our new quarterback - Jeff Blake

Wow, I had no idea that was Jeff Blake. I should have known that living in MD. But I guess it means that I've been pulled into the Cardinals to the point where I pretty much ignore everything else.... Thats either good or bad....:D

Yea, but since I'm not a fan of baltimore (or any other NFL team but the cardinals) I probably shouldn't know it. I could honestly care less about any player thats not a cardinal. Besides, to spend as much time and effort on more than the cardinals would probably make my head explode. :D But now that Blake is on the Cards, I'm going to get to know everything about him very very soon.

Just found it funny, did not want to sound condescending or anything, I just found it funny it was Maryland. Most people are not Football geeks like us, its cool sorry if I sounded mean:)

I can't see a team extending a deal in order to trade a player. Unless, there is little or no signing bonus. Because, if I am not mistaken, the signing bonus' effect upon the cap would stay with the team who extended the player's deal.

To give the Cards credit, maybe they are trying to keep one of their only apparent strengths (O-line) intact.

I hope not. BIG hasn't proved he can play LT in this league and Clement is coming of two injuries to his triceps tendon. Another year at RT for BIG and he should reach the level of play we all saw at RG.

I have stated before you don't spend the 2nd pick in the entire draft for an OG but I'm fine with that at RT. Plus Shelton and BIG could swap tackle positions at some point as well.

JeffGollin made a very valid point, this team is starting to be proactive with their signings so we don't have this mass exodus of talent every year. How can this be considered a bad thing.

I spent four years in your fair state - trying to avoid flunking out of Hopkins, learning how to enjoy crabs & beer, almost learning to play lacrosse and being there when Johnny U, Lenny Moore, Raymond Berry, Big Daddy Lipscomb, Gino M and other Colt legends reigned supreme.

If Cardinal-mania in the Valley could ever reach the pitch that occurred in Baltimore during the Colt era, all you AZ Cardinal fans will be in for a treat. (Even the movie, Diner - where the bride had to pass "the Colt quiz" before the groom would agree to marry her - doesn't do justice to how nuts Baltimorians were over the Colts). On Sunday's, Baltimore traffic controller, Henry Barnes, would make all the streets leading to Memorial Stadium one way toward the stadium in the late morning and one way away from the stadium after the game.

My bride of 40 years is from Baltimore - and still makes killer crab cakes.

Do not include me in "you guys". I like a move to do this.

Yes, but it's a bad deal for the Cards if we do that. See, LJ will probably need five years at $7 mil with a $10 mil signing bonus (Maybe less, but I'm just being arbitrary; LTs in the NFL demand mad skrill). If we sign him to that and then trade him, the entire signing bonus goes onto that season's cap, no matter when you make the deal. That's why the Broncos can't really trade Griese.
