SHARON — Meadville lost to Sharon 10-0 in a non-region softball contest at Sharon High School on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs were out-hit 12-2 in the six inning mercy-rule loss. Kendal Mealy and Teagan Reichel each had a hit.

Lila Kightlinger struck out three and walked four with nine earned runs.

The ‘Dogs are 1-1 and are scheduled to host Sharpsville on Wednesday.

SHARPSVILLE — The Meadville baseball team won its season opener 7-1 at Sharpsville on Wednesday.

Meadville out-hit Sharpsville 10-3. Colin Reichel and Henry DeSantis-Biggs each had two hits. Jacoby Thompson had a triple and Ian Miller added a double.

AJ Feleppa fanned nine batters in four innings with one walk and one hit. Rocco Woodrow struck out two batters in two scoreless innings and Thompson struck one out in the seventh inning.

Meadville is 1-0 and is scheduled to play at Mercyhurst Prep on Tuesday.

SAEGERTOWN — The Saegertown softball team beat Union City 12-2 in six innings of a non-region game at Bertram Park on Wednesday.

Leah McGill was 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBIs. Rylie Braymer was 3-for-3 and Hailey Obenrader was 2-for-4 with two doubles.

In the circle, Obenrader struck out eight and allowed no earned runs in a complete-game effort.

Saegertown is 1-0. The Panthers are scheduled to host Mercyhurst Prep on Wednesday.

Spa wins opener

FRANKLIN — Cambridge Springs opened its softball season with a 7-4 non-region win at Franklin on Wednesday.

The Blue Devils out-hit the Knights 11-0. Quinn Eaglen had two triples and one double while Aubrie Crawford had two doubles.

Kayla Crawford struck out 12 in five innings and Aubrie Crawford fanned four in two innings of relief.

Cambridge Springs is 1-0 and is scheduled to play at Mercer on Saturday.

Saegertown tops Cambridge

SAEGERTOWN — The Saegertown boys volleyball team beat Cambridge Springs 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-12) on Wednesday at Steve Scott Gymnasium.

Sophomore Jackson Scott dished 24 assists. Cru Scott and Mason Allio each had eight kills. Westin Baker led the defense with 13 digs, Allio added 12.

Saegertown is 1-0 and will play at the Meadville Tournament on Saturday. Cambridge Springs is 0-1 and will also play in the tournament.

Conneaut beats Cochranton

COCHRANTON — Conneaut defeated Cochranton 3-2 (25-22, 19-25, 25-16, 15-25, 15-7) in a boys volleyball match at Cochranton High School on Wednesday.

Cochranton’s Evan King dished 33 assists. Brady Rynd led the offense with 14 kills and 17 digs. Quin McCartney had 10 digs and four aces while CJ Shorts tallied seven digs, five aces and four kills.
