FWIW: Ron Jaworski believes Cardinals QB Logan Thomas was most impressive rookie QB in week 1. Said he played like a Pro-Bowl player.

How many rookies played ?

How many of them played against the camp fodder of a 2-14 team ?

Logan Thomas is very exciting, and I think he can be a good one, but Jaws may be getting a little carried away.

Its one week.

I will say this, kid has some serious velocity on his ball.

Please remember Jaws said that he played like a Pro-Bowler, which he did. He didn't say that he WAS a Pro-Bowler.

One game and they are saying he is playing like a pro bowl player. Geez... He did play good but it was preseason and going against 3rd stringers.

Thankfully or should I say hopefully, we won't have to count on him this year. He still has a lot of time to develop.
This pick, however, was ripped by a lot of the national media during the draft but maybe, just maybe, the scouts and coaches weren't so wrong on this pick after all.

Well theoretically he did play "like a pro bowler". The question that still needs to be answered is whether or not he can play "like a pro bowler" when he faces the oppositions 1s when they are scheming against him.

Jaws also said that Kaepernick would be the best QB of all time.

Cocaine is a hell of a drug. I take his evaluations with a grain of salt.

What you have to take away from Logan Thomas's performance was that he made progress. Regardless of the level of the pro competition or the complexity of the plays he was running, Thomas came out and executed, especially in terms of comp %. What should get people more excited is if you view this progress in relation to where he was in Nov 2013. Here is a guy who was being talked about needing to convert to a TE in order to get drafted. Here is a guy who rode the hype train from his soph year all the way to the dumps. In less than a year he has turned his projection as a QB totally around. There is something to be said about the amount of work that goes into doing so.

I just dont get all this teeth gnashing from Cardinal fans. We dont get play Sunday then ESPN hates us and complain. 2 Days later they recognize and like our guy and say he PLAYED like a Pro Bowler and people think they are giving too much love too quick? No ones betting their life savings here.

Just enjoy it. We all know it can go away after next couple weeks. Live in the moment dont have to be right or first all the time.

Jaworski also liked Lindley coming out of college haha... but I was a little stunned with the efficiency of Thomas and it was so good that one does not get lucky on such a performance, there is real hope for him now in my opinon :)

I feel after a few days of obsessive Johnny Manziel coverage they finally came around to some other rookie QBs. Especially the ones that statistically played better than Manziel.

This is what I want to see also.

We also didn't really get to see the deep ball from Logan. I'm sure can throw it a country mile but the touch has to be there, Arians loves to take a few shots down the field in every game.

I agree.
Just to balance things out a bit, Cowherd dismissed him with all of the other rookie QBs drafted in 13 and 14 as not being superstars.

This. Very good post, best in the thread. I like the fact that you mention the amount of work it takes to increase your value in the manner that he has in less than a year (being projected as a TE in some circles). And I totally agree when you say all that matters is that he made progress. That's really the only thing you can take away from his performance.

Will also add that I love BA and Tom Moore. The fact that he stayed in the pocket, didn't get happy feet, didn't scramble around, ate 2 sacks early (and I mean ATE them), the fact that he did those things isn't because that's his instinct. It's because he was well coached. They wanted to see things out of him--they knew he could run--they wanted to see him make reads, sense pressure, and they wanted to see his poise in an NFL pocket. To me it almost says more about BA and Moore. They wanted to find out what they had to work on with the kid. They made him a statue on purpose, to see what fundamentals he needed help with. That is really good coaching.

Are you new to this board? You have to be first AND right with all of your posts; otherwise, you ought to never show your face in here again.

What, a Cards QB being praised by national media? Based on the past, Logan Thomas just had the shortest moment of fame for a Cards QB ever.

Thomas just carries himself like a qb and a leader. He has the look, the intelligence, the combination of confidence and humility. He had the biggest arm at the combine (over 60 mph) and the fastest 40. You could see the skill. He has every pass you need to make in his arsenal. He is just one of those players a top notch QB coach wants to get his hands on.

I would love to develop BOTH Thomas and Lindley, but I guess that is not possible. One of them could eventually bring back something in a trade. Watch. Lindley is going to go out and look really good today, and then we are going to have the big debate about which QB we should keep.

Very well said Chopper. After the draft, the media was all over us for (more or less), wasting a draft pick on Thomas, given his poor accuracy and penchant to run. Arians and Moore have worked wonders with ALL our QB's, and the fact that Thomas has responded so well to the teaching bodes well for this team long term. He came to us with a low ceiling and now has raised the potential of that ceiling to be elite. Given time to grow in this system while Palmer, (who I also feel has grown in it), takes us to another level, is perfect for Thomas in my opinion. It seems to me that our QB situation has become a win/win prospect.
