recap

babby said suns goal this year was to make the playoffs said it was disappointing not to make the playoffs

talked about the schedule for this offseason.

Nash has to go through a process of which team he is going to play for.

talked about exit interviews with the players He mentioned some questions like How is the food on the plane what do you think of your teammates and front office.

Also mentioned Gentry has 1 year left on his contract. They are in the process of doing exit interviews with the assistant coaches.

Biggest pressing issue for the Suns this offseason is how do the Suns balance the future and present

Heard the interview. What worried me the most was him talking about how the Suns are on the right path and he hopes the fans can be patient.

The Suns are on NO path and they probably should have just started rebuilding after Amare left.

All I can do is hope that there is a disconnect between what Babby says to the fans and what he knows to be true.

the interview was full of fluff.....

we really care about our players...."we care how much they like the airplane food". wow.

the whole thing was a piece about the management looking forward in the right direction, and pleading to the fans not to give up because they are on the right path.

it was a joke. just confirmed to me that nobody knows what they are doing upstairs. everything he said was reactionary....NOTHING was about what the franchise is going our and doing. it was all wait and see.

and the whole tree of planning or whatever...THAT HASNT BEEN STARTED YET.

Good point.

I thought the whole tree of options (planned scenarios in the event of a,b,c,d, happening in FA) was interesting for a moment... if it were a grown tree. However, Babby quickly backpedaled into starting to grow a tree.

I sensed that Babby did not want to start answering logical follow-up questions about FAs like what happens if Nash and Hill leave.

The interview went from the Suns FO being prepared to just starting to try and grow a tree. It made me think, what are they doing over there.

the fact that he also mentioned that he was not involved in draft preparation makes me think that there is complete disconnect between all of the branches of the franchise.

nobody at the moment knows what this franchise needs or how to obtain it. they are just using nash as the answer.

He can't answer questions about free agents right now. The tampering penalties are significant. He said it is also considered tampering when players recruit players.

i dont buy it. you dont go on the radio trying to build up a disappointing season by saying you havent even started preparing for next.

A smart person goes this route: if they have started preparing for next season you say "we have many options to look at. some are better than others, but we are prepared for contingencies. Our draft department is busy evaluating prospects, we are confident we can address a need through the draft."

a stupid person goes this route: "the draft is not by business. i dont know what they are doing. As far as the FA market goes i have this idea for a 'growing tree'. i havent started it yet, so dont ask me questions about next season's plans."

even if option A is a lie, it sounds 100x better than option B. Even if option B is the truth, you dont flat out say it. and if its a lie to keep from avoiding questions, it lets fans think the franchise doesnt have a direction.

no answer to any questions should be a flat out "i dont know" or "its not my job." Babby went that route, and he looked like a fool.

Two things of note:

1) Babby can never be a player-agent again. His continued confessionals about the dirty tricks of player-agents ... I'd never want him to represent me.

2) Where there is no vision, the people perish. Proverbs 29:18
