I know that this is "world sports" but I also know that a few of our English friends post here. Not sure if they look at the "everything else" area...

Next year in July my wife and I will be in London for a couple of days before we leave on a cruise of northern Europe, so what should we absolutely do in our 2 days in London? What are the "must sees" that we will be able to fit in to 2 days? Are there certain Pubs or Restaurants that are "can't miss"?

Unfortunately it won't be football(soccer) season, although my wife is grateful of that. Do they do tours of the stadiums in the offseason? We had a tour of of the FC Barcelona museum last year (and it included the stadium) do they do similar tours in England at any of the London area clubs?

have you been before? in two days you can cover most of the big ones - ie Buc Palace, Big Ben and Houses of Parl, London Eye, trip down the river, picadily Circus etc.

if its sporting you want you could check out Wembley for ground tour or maybe cathc a cricket match you might get lucky and get a game at Lords!

there are scores of London football grounds - the Gunners new stadium is by far the best. Shame it not footie season mate!

you could take in a show one night and then eat after that - there are tons of great places to eat - it all depends on what you budget is?

if its Michelin stars you after then you can try place like Claridges -about £350 for two of you depending on when you go - you can get a set lunch for £30 if you just want to go and its about £40 for a bottle of wine so you could do it for less! you can eat for peanuts in chinatown too its all there ans easy to find!

you will have a blast and its all very easy to get about and most of the main sites are very central and can be walked to be honest!

at day pass for the Tube is only about £7.

I dont live in London but go 3 or 4 times a year but if there is anything you would like me to try and find out for oyu please let me know!

btw i just bought my tickets for the NFL London game in October at Wembley!

if its hotels you are looking at then let me know how much you want to spend and i can poit you in the right direction! basic Travel lodges you can book for £26 per room if you book a few months ahead and are basic but clean and well placed! ro you can go top end end and pay a fortune!

Thanks for all the info, I knew you'd come through!

We've never been to London, I had a lay over in Manchester on my way back from Norway while I was in the military, but that doesn't count so we are both complete UK "rookies".

We bought a Top 10 London travel book recently and have been going through it trying to narrow our places to see list down. We realzie the trip is over a year away but we are really looking forward to it.

I'm also trying to swing a UK only trip sometime during football season at some point, obviously not next year but someday. I'd love to watch an EPL match, I hear all the singing when I watch the games on TV but for the life of me I have no idea what the fans are saying, seeing and hearing it first hand would be awesome.

As it gets closer we'll seek out your advice (with Hotels etc)...thanks again!

Back in November we went to Stamford Bridge on a Tuesday or Wednesday. The tour of the place was 15 pounds per person. As I'm not a fan of Chelsea, and my wife wasn't interested, we decided to just check out the team shop and move on. I think it would definitely be worth it to check out one of the newer stadiums, though.
