As the Texas Longhorns continue to build for the future, they are looking to add to the 2027 class. Recently, they got good news regarding one of the top prospects in the country. Four-star linebacker Taven Epps scheduled his third visit with Texas earlier this week.

The California native is ranked as the 68th-best prospect in the nation by 247Sports. He is also ranked as the seventh-best player in his class from California. Due to his potential, Epps has drawn interest from some of the top programs in the country.

While the Longhorns have made Epps one of their top targets, they have plenty of competition. That list includes Alabama, Boston College, Colorado State, Kansas, and Georgia. At the moment, Epps has offers from over 20 schools with more visits on the horizon.

During his sophomore season, Epps stood out due to his ability to frustrate offensive coordinators. He recorded 38 tackles, including nine for a loss and seven sacks. Tustin High School was not an easy team to face whenever he was on the field.

Although his decision is still months away, it is a good sign for the Longhorns that Epps has scheduled another visit. Adding him to the 2027 class would be a massive get as Texas hopes to build an elite defense. He still has more room to grow, and the Longhorns coaching staff has had some success developing linebackers.

When Epps returns to Austin, the Longhorns hope to show him why Austin is the best place for his college career.
