Oh Canada!
I say screw him he has had an offer on the table for a while now! If he didn't want to come here he should have been open like Seau! We could have gone another direction we could have gone harder after Okeafor. Well it's his decsion and we have to move on. So bring on Suggs and maybe Brackens!June 1 always brings at least one un forseen surprize and we have the money to make a run at who ever might be available.

I haven't found any other source that are reporting this, so I wouldn't panic yet. Guess, we'll find out later today.

You think one of the sports sites would have something on this by now...

I'm with you. But Clark Judge of FOX is pretty reliable.

Maybe all the other sports news sources aren't running this because (like the headline says) it's a tenative agreement.

Funny, sounds like what the Cardinals have had with Holliday for weeks now...

Man Iv'e looked at every publication, and there is no other source reporting this deal. Even the K.C. Star has no release on this. The Chiefs fan mail says that Holliday is a Chief, but the only source that they list is the same Fox headline that is listed here. Kinda smells a little fishy to me.

Here you'd think we were trying to land Strahan or something.

I dunno.

This weekend on ESPN radio Kiper had some character who writes for one of the KC newspapers and he said that KC wasn't really excited about the prospect of signing Holliday but that since he was all that was out there, and since their defense sucked so badly last year, they'd make some effort to try and sign him.

Yeah, a "source close to the team" could be the building janitor for all we know. Maybe Holliday's agent spun this out there to try and get a little more jack out of us. If Holliday signed a deal with KC anywhere near our offer they'd have to backload it heavily AND redo some other deals just so they could sign their rookies.

Who knows how it will end up, but the lack of news is strange....KFFL tends to report these "tenative" deals and then goes back and gives all the details after the fact.

$21 mil over 5 years with a $4 mil signing bonus. Sounds competitive with our offer and, all things being equal, he preferred the Chiefs.

I sure hope we get to play them soon - maybe in the playoffs.

Thank god he's not a card! Holliday would have helped us out a little bit NOW, but also would have hurt us in the long run. It's better he's not here.

Well, we can try to put that sort of positive spin on it. Bottom line is, we've failed miserably in our 2 biggest attempts to upgrade our biggest weakness. Holliday was the FIRST guy we called when free agency opened. He was the first visit. After six weeks, we couldn't land him and sell him that this was the best place for him. This shows that we still have the same old problem -- attracting free agents.

But why? Kffl is reporting the KC deal is basically a two year deal. This means Holliday will get another chance for a big payday. I doubt Az did the same. If hat is the reason, why would I want to rent him for two years at about 7 mil a year? (4 mil base plus four million bonus prorated over two years, assuming KC cuts him after two). Truth is I think KVB could be a Holliday type player on the left side. RDE is where we need help. No skin off of my back.

Positive spin nothing. This is the stance I've had on this guy all along. He freelances. He doesn't try hard. He's injury prone. This guy had someting like 7 sacks last year with 4 or five coming on the last game of the season when he actualy played hard because he dedicated the game to some family member who died. You mean to tell me that a guy who gets 4 sacks in one game couldn't get 12+ over a whole season if he even tried a little? Screw him! We dont need guys with that mentality on our squad!! Where is that KC fan? I said I would personaly write him a thank you card if the Chiefs signed Holliday.

No....he had 6 sacks, with 5 coming in one game. Not all that productive.

Who cares if you didn't want him? The coaching staff and front office DID and they couldn't get it done. They certainly didn't assess him the same way you did. We are now on, at least, Plan C when it comes to improving our defensive line and pass rush. Plan Cs are never as good as As or Bs.
