Our Oline was getting their ass whopped on pass pro. Go back and check the video of Matt's INT's, our line was being destroyed inside out.

I know how to solve it, cut Lienart. :sarcasm:

I say we stomp him!
Yeah!
Then we tattoo him!
Yeah!
Then we hang him...!
YEAH!'!
And then we kill him!
YEAH!'!'!

Has there been an overreaction to Leinart's no good, very bad day? Sure.

But how many articles did you read that put a halo over Matt's head? Where the coaching staff told us how hard he'd been studying, how much he'd learned (by holding a clipboard), how dedicated he was to being the best darn QB out there? The implications and the promise was -- Matt Leinart had become a QB God.

And what have we seen, instead? A fairly adequate QB that still has the tendency to fold like wet paper when he's pressured. If you'd watched his college games during his So Cal days, you'd have seen that Leinart was a fairly adequate QB that was saved by his RB twin towers (Bush/White) time and again.

It is what it is. Leinart can win if the rest of the team is spot on and if we've got a strong running game. And I'm rooting for him 'cause the Cardinals WILL make him the starting QB, whether he's earned it or not.

I like Leinart in pressure, its the rest of the time I am not sold on him.

The pass protection was good throughout the night. Leinart did not get hit on any of his interceptions.

I noticed that too in particular on 2 plays the one near the goalline where his pass was deflected there were 3 DL's in the backfield on what was a quick hitter type pass play. They were in so quickly it was almost as if it was a screen play except the OL was actually trying to block them. I'm still not sure which DL tipped the pass because they all had penetration.

And of course the Routt int was again right up the gut forcing Matt to run outside and then he brain farted and threw the ball.

Even Warner's fumble was Edwards beating his man off the ball and when Kurt tried to step up Edwards just went for the ball.

So what if he didn't get hit. Go back and look at the clips of his ints. Tell me he wasn't being pressured right up in his face. Wells got beat like a drum on one. Then the right guard(dont know if it was Lutui or Brown at the time) got run over. Next time Levi but torched on a speed rush.

It's not an excuse for poor decisions, but I can't believe not one has mentioned it before.

Well the one to Routt was a direct result of being flushed out of the pocket by bad pass pro. The one where he fell down after running didn't get counted as a sack but was another example of bad pass pro.

They weren't living in our backfield but they had pretty good pass rush the whole first half.

I don't blame the pass rush for any of his picks the first 2 were bad decisions throwing into double coverage the one to Routt was just a brain fart he should have ran the ball.

I didn't see it that way. I thought the O-Line was solid over-all.

I don't care if our O-line consisted of 5 Sisters of the Poor.

The first thing on any QB's short list (from Peewees on up) is "don't turn over the ball."

I'm not ready to write Leinart's epitaph, but it seems clear to me that - at this point late in preseason - we don't know whether he can give us what we need to win. We can be pretty sure our other option (Warner) does.

Leinart has had considerably less playing time in the pros than the media would lead you to believe. (I think it was Jaworski who says a QB needs 36 appearances as a starter before you really know what you've got in him. Warner started a half-dozen times in his rookie year and only started a couple of times last year before injuring his shoulder).

Time for Matt to take on step backward to fill the "eager young puppy with the clipboard" role on the sideline where he can continue to develop (hopefully into the franchise QB we expect) but at a less force-fed pace.

The Cardinals should no longer be in "we're almost there" mode. It's George Allen time. We've got to go with the surer option at QB and win right now.

I think the debate is over as Warner has been named the starter. Like with Plummer our debate on the board will likely never end. If Warner is good enough for the Coach he is good enough for me. The coach sees them both every day and the coach's job is to put a winning team on the field. He has made his call for better or worse. I was a little concerned that Whiz had already locked in Matt as the starter from the get-go as he more or less put this in words early on and to the press. In the end he has done what he thinks is right and regardless of what the GM or Bidwills thought is his own man.

I think we often forget that in college he was surrounded by one of the best college teams in the nation. He had allday to set back and look for great receivers and had the threat of Bush and White. Now he is with an average team in the NFL where he has to think quick, read quick and pass quick with accuracy. With all the practice the team has had our coaches have had plenty of time to assess his play. You just have to believe they know better than any of us who is better suited to get the job done. Some of our posters get locked in on a guy and come hell or high water will stick by him. Same thing happened with Plummer and in my opinion Plummer went a lot further than Matt will ever go. I never hear much about our #3 QB but what little I saw of him in a game he looked better than Matt. That is not enough to say he is better than Matt as it is in daily practice where the coaches make most of their decisions on who will go and who will stay. I have posted before and will post again that I thought we got one of the great steals in a draft when we drafted Leinart. I thought he was a can't miss but wondered how could he drop to #10 or where ever we drafted him. This is why I flew airplanes and did not coach football.

clif,
I am a Leinart jock sniffer but the first int that Matt threw was all him. He had a very nice pocket. He just threw it short and inside. Any good QB will make sure that if the pass doesn't hit it's target, it's out of bounds.
