FORT WORTH, Texas — Louisville women’s basketball can officially put the past behind it.

After an unheard of first-round NCAA Tournament exit a year ago, the seventh-seeded Cardinals downed 10th-seeded Nebraska, 63-58, on Friday at the Schollmaier Arena in the Round of 64.

Louisville (22-10) moves on to face second-seeded TCU on Sunday.

The Cardinals had a poor shooting performance to start the game, going 30% from the field in the first quarter. But Taj Roberts, in her March Madness debut, came alive in the second quarter. The Cardinals’ budding star scored 12 points in the period to help U of L to a 36-32 halftime lead.

Despite Nebraska rattling off a 10-0 run to start the fourth quarter, Jayda Curry took over late, shaking off a cramp to help lead Louisville to the victory. She and Olivia Cochran iced the game at the line and had 13 and 14 points, respectively in the game.
