The door was just opened for Texas/Auburn/ Florida to reach the MNC game.

The Rutgers defense played out of their minds in the second half. That was really fun to watch. Some people get excited by great offense, my favorite thing in football is to watch a defense play with emotion and dominate like that.

I nominate Greg Schiano for head coach of the Arizona Cardinals!

After that game , he might be the hottest commodity, in fans eyes, out there. I would take him in a heartbeat. He does have pro coach experience on Dave Waanstedt's Bear staff.

My guess is that he takes over the Miami program after Coker gets axed. He was their defensive coordinator from 99-00 before he took the head coaching job at Rutgers.

Is everything
As a Louisville guy that was a tough tough loss. Reminded me a lot of that other team with a Cardinal on the helmet when they played the Bears - just couldn't make a single play in the 4th quarter. But you have to give all the credit to Rutgers, they played their hearts out and deserved to win. I feel bad for the UL player who was offsides on that missed field goal at the end - he must feel like crap today.

Great win for Rutgers - sorry for Louisville though - what a difference Michael Bush could have made!

Easy guys, everyone was hyping Petrino for a NFL job only a week ago. Those whispers stopped after last night. Schiano is reportedly the next Miami coach and will do good there IMO.

As for the game, it was the best I've watched this season. Rutgers is very well coached and disciplined which makes them fun to watch. Their defense is aggressive and can play against anyone in the country. It's a shame they won't get to the NC even if they win out

Why?? We were all ready to put Louisville in the title game had they run the table. If Rutgers can run the table, believe they still have WVU.....they should go.

The only 1 loss team that should get consideration is the loser of the OSU/Michigan Game.

But the Computers won't let it happen. Not saying they deserve it, but many of the 1 loss teams will be right up there if they finish their seasons with no more losses. Florida, Texas have the best shots.

Not saying I like the rule, Boise might be on the outside looking in with no losses.

There's no reason to get down on Petrino after this game.

Also, the talk today was that Penn State wants Schiano to take over for Paterno. Schiano started his coaching career there from 91 to 95. That is the ideal fit for him. Taking the Penn State job over the Miami job is a no brainer in my mind.

This conversation is great proof that the BCS sucks rear end. Texas, Florida, Auburn, USC, Cal....all would have terrific arguments to get a shot if they lose one game. Why should defending national champ Texas get no consideration, but Michigan should, when they both would've lost to Ohio St.? :doi:

This is the greatest sport in America, but the way champions are determined is just flat out goofy. It's a damn shame that there are teams with no shot to prove they are the best ON THE FIELD every year! Plus, a playoff system in college football would be the MONSTER sporting event. Even the NFL playoffs would have a hard time matching up for excitement and hype.

My point came across the wrong way. I'm not taking away from Petrino after a tough loss. It seems that people are quick to say coaches are ready for the NFL after big wins. People are saying Schiano is NFL ready which just isn't accurate. Granted he has done a great job turning the Rutgers program around but he has only been a HC for 3 years, in the Big East at that.

Maybe it's cause the Cards will be looking for a new HC soon but I think some people are jumping the gun a bit when saying certain coaches are NFL ready

Yep. I agree. Take each comference Champ, several at large bids and have a playoff using the bowls. That way every team has a chance to get into big games, and you are rewarded for winning your conference, not finishing second or third and being higher than a ranked team like Boise State or Rutgers.

Oh, I admit I have no idea if he's truly NFL ready or not. It couldn't hurt to talk to the guy though. I'd like to see some young energy like that on our sideline.

I'm gonna be the odd one and say I like it just the way it is.

Look at the discussion we are having. Look at how much each game means.

IMO....the only real thing that needs to be done to fix the BCS is get the computers out...period.

I agree. I think also the people who vote should watch more games.

If we're gonna have to have a BCS I'm in favor of the computers being a part of it and taking some of the bias out of the human voting. Taking out the computers would just make it worse IMHO.

The College football championship is lowered to somewhat of a joke with this system. College athletics should place an emphasis on fairness which just doesn't seem to be the case when 15-20 worthy teams are all screaming that they don't have a shot at the championship. Plus, the crippling effect of any loss during the season creates a situation where the "big boy" conferences won't schedule any OOC games with good teams from other conferences. How many Florida vs Western Carolina games do we have to be subjected to? And then these same Big Ten and SEC schools turn around and complain that teams like Louisville, Boise St and West Virginia don't play anybody (hey here's an idea, why don't YOU play them and quit your bitching??). It's really disgusting when you see the politics and old money at work here. Yuck.

Here's some Boise State "Love" In Media Recently"

I'm a strong advocate of strength of schedule," Clemson coach Tommy Bowden said this week on the ACC coaches' call. "Come over here and face Miami, Georgia Tech, N.C. State. When you have to do that on a week-to-week basis, it takes its toll. When I was at (11-0) Tulane (in 199 , I didn't think we merited a BCS bid, and I didn't vote (Boise State) as high because of that."

From a Joe Schad ESPN Chat"

Kyle (LA): Who is more deserving, Boise State in a BCS game or Louisville in the championship game?

Joe Schad: (1:35 PM ET ) I"m laughing. Louisville. Who has Boise State beaten? What conference are they in? Who are they? Congrats on their defeat over Sacramento State

Sean (CA): Joe, How about doing a little research before opening your mouth. Boise State has beaten 2 top 35 teams ranked in the BCS. Oregon State #24 (42-14), Hawaii #35 (41-34) How many has Rutgers beat?

Joe Schad: (1:46 PM ET ) Wow, I'd really be scared to schedule Oregon St. and Hawaii. I'm sure the players at Hawaii really enjoyed their time in Boise.

I've thought about a 6 or 10 team playoff that would work. But I'm too lazy to post more about it.
