i am amazed that i don't see anyone posting regarding rudy's AWFUL pocket presence and COMPLETE inability to deal with a blitz.

i have watched game after game after game with rudy and i just can't stand watching him. he's the difference in saturday's game. he's not mentally tough. he never feels the rush, and as a result he usually backpedals into it rather than stepping up into the pocket.

and it's not like he's a rookie. the kid had a GREAT deal of experience coming into this season!!!

and the blitz? omg. he's like jim everett's career after the phantom sack against the niners. rudy see's an extra rusher and he IMMEDIATE curls up into a fetal position. LITERALLY. watch the oregon game. watch for the fetal position. MULTIPLE times!!! no effort to throw the ball away. no effort to find the hot read. nothing. i'm shocked and appalled.

and the worst? he's a friggin' baby. the fact that it was he and HIS PARENTS that went to koetter to tell on keller kills me. now keller was an idiot for his partying and carousing, but ratting on your teammate and main competitor? feech. not a leader. i dismissed all the talk about his bush league high school crap, but now i see it for what it was . . . carpenter is a big baby.

okay, rant over. the rest of this team is incredible. and that starts with the coaching. i can't believe erickson has done this with koetter's less than stellar recruits. i can't wait to see what he does once he's got his usual cast of speedsters in tow. i only hope that rudy does not continue to be the anchor around the neck of what should be a national contender for the next few years. whew, that took a lot outta me.

Im so sick of posts like this from ASU fans. Rudy's one of the best players in the Pac 10, but remember, the Pac10 is COLLEGE. He still has stuff to work on of course, I'm thrilled about having Rudy here next year as a Senior.

I always liked Keller better and I couldn't agree more.

Just wait until the ASU/UA game. As long as Tui doesn't get knocked out as he the last two years in this game i expect him to prove to be the better QB.

I can't wait to hit Rudy in the mouth and see how he responds against his main rivals.:D

You prove to be a more of a moron everytime you make a post.

Tuitrama isn't even in the same league as Rudy. Am I a fan of Rudy, not really but he is still much better than Tui

If Rudy got to throw the ball 60 times per game like scrambled eggs does down in Tucson, he'd be in the Heisman race right now.

We already know how Rudy responds when he gets "knocked in the mouth" - a lot better than Tui does

As a QB: Rudy >>> Tuitama

Marginal yet accurate arm with good decision-making beats scatter-armed cannon with no presence. And as uncalled for as the jokes about Tuitama's brain issues might be, there is substance behind them. Good QB's show toughness and finish games. Do you really think Tuitama would be alive right now let alone playing if he had been hit as much as Carpenter has this year?

As a person: Tuitama >>> Rudy

Humble and quiet kid beats cocky, spoiled brat (and yes, that is an exact quote about Rudy from a friend within the football program). SK had his issues, but at least everybody liked him. Actually if you combined Keller's field leadership and poise with Rudy's desire and competitiveness you'd have one helluva QB. Put Tuitama's arm on that and you'd have John Elway.

Moron? Are you f'ing kidding me?

First of all this "This is my board - this is your board" BS has to stop. We are all fans of AZ and truth be told while I want to demolish you guys everytime we play you - I want to see ASU beat everyone else they play.

I came here because I dont think much of Carpenter and even his supposed "renaissance" is fairly mediocre. I liked Keller beginning from the beginning and its not exactly like I am pimping Kris Heavner here. Look at the numbers "moron"

Rudy 171/264 2328 Yards 64.8% 19 TDS 8 INTS and 37 Sacks

Tui 278/434 3145 Yards 64.1% 24TDS 9INTS and 30 Sacks

Rudy has the better team around him and Tui plays in the spread but the point remains. Willies numbers are just plain better. Maybe with Torian and that offensive line he would have even BETTER numbers. Know your facts before you run your mouth.

Again Willie has taken his hits behind a green offensive line and responded well this season after getting over the concussion problems. Rudy has played behind a vet oline the entire time. And Tui will continue to get better the further he gets away from that devastating hit at LSU last year.

Just watch. Come the territorial cup Tui will outplay Rudy and i will be here to eat crow if I am wrong. But I won't be. And then we will go back to kicking you a$$ at basketball too;)

Ever notice how sensitive and quick to start name calling and getting defensive man Devil fans are? Its called an inferiority complex. Not all devil fans are like that, but I rarely ever see such lack of coherence and immaturity from Cats fans. In fact for all of you that bash on Mao - he is one of the most intelligent posters on the board.

You know why we Cats fans don't get like that - Its cause we know we are good.

So Rudy has a better YPA and a better TD/ATT ratio?

I think your stats actually DO prove who the better QB is.

Really because I thought that with so many fewer attempts that its ridiculous the amount of INTS and Sacks he has taken compared to Willie.

Like I said - this will all be proved come Territorial Cup. I expect Willie to play lights out. And then hopefully Robinson will be back on board.

Nice reply:thumbup:

Thats the ASU education dollars at work folks:D

(god i love this time of year - the big football game coming up and bball getting ramped up)

Attacking someone's education with numerous grammatical errors in your own post. Irony at its finest!

Big football game? For ASU, yes. Won't matter to the Kittens as they aren't going to a bowl game.

Its a big game no matter what and it will be an especially big game as you guys will end up 9-3 and on the way to......the Holiday Bowl!!!!

I guess that beats El Paso but i'm guessing you guys had bigger plans just a week earlier.

See this I don't mind. This is what makes college rivalries so fun. Its the sophomoric name calling and petulance of some Devil fans (ill give you a hint - one has an avatar that has a sun devil pitch forking the wild cat and the others screen name rhymes with AZSMALLER) that is irritating.

I wish you guys the best of luck the rest of the way (in fact I will be at the SC game) and you better be here to eat crow should UA win.

I agree 100% and I'm not being sarcastic. While Tui has been better lately, he will now always be known as a system QB and should be. However, he seems to be a good kid and has dealt with the losing/health issues very maturely. He doesn't show up looking like a bum to his press conferences, doesn't take his helmet off after every touchdown while still on the field, doesn't drop "F" bombs on national TV, etc like Rudy does. Rudy is the better QB IMO but I would agree that Tui is more mature.

A part of me wishes that Rudy was a senior this year because I truly believe that Danny Sullivan is an NFL QB in the making. He reminds me very much of Walter but with better pocket presence/mobility. I still take sides with Sam Keller because I think he was the ultimate competitor and would have been a great senior for us this year. He had his issues but you can't negate the fact that Sam turned Rudy into the QB he is today. Without Keller pushing Rudy for the starting job, Rudy would not have developed as fast as he did. Competition is good and it yielded its ugly head in this situation (although Koetter was the one to blame)

This is all my opnion

You ever seen him throw? The kid has a cannon, good accuracy, and has decent mobility for a big guy. Does he have the mobility of Rudy? No, but I can assure that he doesn't hold onto the ball for minutes like Rudy does.

Call it backup COOLaide you want (did you mean Kool-aid?) but Sullivan has really impressed me when I've watched him. People thought Walter sucked and look what happened when he got the call............

I never said he sucked and I don't think he sucks, but I do think you have back up QB glasses on. Would he be better than Rudy eventually with 20 plus games under his belt, hard to say.

I do know that Erickson loves Rudy, senior QBs (which is what Carp will be seem to be a huge competitive advantage for teams and Sullivan outside of injury in all likelihood likely will never start for ASU, and if he does, I can guarantee you that will be the point every ASU fan with back up QB glasses on will start chanting for Elway.

And it's questionable if Elway would be the third best QB on the roster. If Samson Alphabet hadn't had shoulder surgery he might've been No. 2 by mid-season.

The post Rudy QB situation is going to be interesting to say the least, I'm fully expecting someone to transfer.

Correct. The same thing happens everywhere. Good young QBs with big egos refuse to sit for too long and transfer out. Can't blame them. I'd do it too.

Nobody can audition for the NFL sitting on the bench. That's often why 2nd tier division 1 and good division 2 programs often end up with pretty good talent at QB.
