Allan Arbus, who played psychiatrist Maj. Sidney Freedman on M*A*S*H, died Friday at home in Los Angeles, his daughter Amy confirmed to The New York Times. He was 95.

Wow, I had no idea Sidney was still alive. He and Flagg were my favorite semi-regulars and I figured they were both gone years ago (Flagg/Edwin Winter passed 2001 according to IMDB). RIP Mr Arbus.

That's when MASH went psycho. Those episodes were always unnerving, but probably appropriate considering they had spent many years making fun of war. It's interesting watching those episodes now, knowing what we know about PTSD.

Interesting in this instance that psycho rhymes with sappy, but we loved every minute of it.
