Maddox to sign with Cubs?

According to reports the Cubs have offered Greg Maddox a two year deal worth between $13 and $15 million.

Am I the only one who's wondering why the D'Backs wouldn't take a shot a Maddox for the same price range? they desperately need another (quality) starter. If they could find someone who wants Mantei (and take a portion of his salary) there should be enough room in the budget for $7 mil a year for Maddox.

They tried dealing Mantei before they dealt Curt--no takers. Most owners aren't naive enough to take a $7 million closer with a long history of injury probs. Ain't gonna happen! At least not likely before the midsummer trade deadline.
