I'm not sure if there are a lot of people here who played the first game, it came out in 2002 for PC and was amazing. It followed the adventure of a guy who was suddenly thrust into mob life back in the 30's. The game took place in a fictional city modeled after Chicago and New York. It had a bit of GTA style in that the setting was pretty open and you could run and drive around, steal cars, interact with people on the street.
They ported the game to the PS2 and XBOX but supposedly it lost a lot in translation.
