According to the Newark Star-Ledger, the Jets' free agent options at receiver are Malcom Floyd, James Jones, and Braylon Edwards.

Noticeably absent: Randy Moss. Beat writer Jenny Vrentas concedes that Edwards may be too expensive, but that door hasn't been shut. This is the first we've heard of a Jets interest in Floyd, who has previously been connected to the Vikings and 49ers.

Does the signing of V-Jax to $11+ million contract hurt their chances of retaining Floyd?

Decided to 'bump' this thread. As he may still be the eventual no.2 .

This from Michael Lombardi to throw into the mix.

Yes confirmed from 2 NFL team sources, the Jets are willing to trade WR--Jerrico Cotchery - possiblly to free up cap space and sign other FAs

The Baltimore Sun reports that the Ravens have "strong interest" in free agent Malcom Floyd.

They clearly prefer Floyd to free agent Braylon Edwards. Floyd turns 30 before the season, but can stretch the field with a career yards-per-reception average of 17.27. He also broke into the league with the Chargers when Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron held the same position in San Diego back in 2004.

Yeah.....let's just overpay for a WR who sucks and lose Fitz.

Larry won't catch 90.

Heap won't catch 70.

Doucet et al will only catch a few between um.

F Floyd.....F Edwards.....let's play football.

Larry will be blanket covered all day without a legit deep threat to pull coverage away from him. Fitz wants Edwards. That should be enough.

Yeah, I don't know why that is so hard to figure out.

Does anyone honestly think whatever we pay for a #2 WR is going to have any affect on what we will be able to pay Larry? This team probably already has the money earmarked.

Fitz did pretty well with Boldin on the other side. I think he'd be fine playing with Edwards.

This. I forgot Fitz didn't manage 96 catches and 1,400 yards when Q had 89 catches and Breaston had 77. If Larry WANTS braylon (or floyd) to come in on top of the fact that we NEED a vertical threat to open him up then there is zero reason to not sign him. Larry managed 90 catches with the biggest group of garbage I've ever seen assembled at QB, the man is getting his 90+ grabs regardless of what is around him.

Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times hears the "clock is ticking" for the Ravens to sign free agent WR Malcom Floyd.

The Ravens presumably have an offer out to Floyd's agent, who was asking for the moon early in free agency. Floyd's decision could turn out to have major repercussions for the Ravens offense, as the fallback plan appears to be re-signing a swiftly declinging Derrick Mason while hoping raw rookie Torrey Smith (hamstring) is ready to make an early-season impact. Per Wilson, Floyd's other suitors are the Vikings, Cardinals, Panthers, and Raiders.

Floyd would be a good pickup. He certainly helped my fantasy team last year. He would make a good #2.

At least five teams in running for WR Floyd
By Jason La Canfora
August 3rd, 2011

Malcom Floyd is nearing a decision on a new team, and several teams remain interested in the receiver, according to league sources.

Floyd is one of the hotter commodities left on the open market, but he has taken his time with his decision. The Chargers would like to retain Floyd, but the Ravens, Panthers, Cardinals and 49ers are among other teams also interested.

Several of the teams involved are trying to rework contracts and massage their salary cap and budgets, sources said. The league year is set to open Thursday, and teams need to be in cap compliance by then.
