Sensationalism at its best. The History Channel used to turn out such good documentaries. Now they just try to entertain. Understandable though, every TV channel that was originally supposed to be educational has done it. Education leads to low ratings, and that doesn't sell ad space.

Kind of like The Learning Channel used to broadcast seminars and lectures from top university professors?

What does TLC have now? Bridezilla marathons, and the clown car known as the Duggar woman's womb?

Ugh!

So ... are you saying none of that is historically correct? All sounds pretty accurate to me - plus things I didn't know before.

HC is supposed to show a series on The Bible. Can't wait to see how they screw that up.

I believe Honey Boo Boo takes the cake as the most ridiculous show ever on TLC. Truth be told, television has morphed into what gets broadcast is the least common denominator. Just when you didn't think it could get any lower, we get these mentioned above and such gems as Whisker Wars, My Great Big Redneck Wedding, and the like. It's this reason why I'm about to chop my TV lineup in half down to basic. BTW, my mother in law is the kind of person that watches this dreck. She came over to our house once and asked to put on the Anna Nichole show. I nearly threw her out.

People watch those shows though. I'm not sure why, but they do. I guess mindless entertainment is a good thing. That's why I watch Fox News occasionally, it's so entertaining.

This is not entirely true. Although The History Channel has its share of ridiculous shows, e.g. swamp people, they still put out several good series each year. I haven't watched this one yet, but I've burned it on dvds to watch later.

Here are some fantastic series I've watched over the last few years:

The Revolution
WWII in HD
Battle 360°
Vietnam in HD
How the States Got Their Shapes
The President's Book of Secrets
The Universe
America: The Story of Us

Here are some other interesting shows:

Cities of the Underworld
Gangland
Life After People
How the Earth Was Made
Pawn Stars

What's funny is that my wife used to call History Channel "The Hitler Channel", because it seemed like every time see turned it on it was something about the Nazis.

This.

360 in the livingroom, Roku + HTPC in the bedroom. The only thing I can say I miss is sports. But there are plenty of "alternative" ways to watch the Suns lose if you dig around a bit.
