Manti Te’o’s Dead Girlfriend ?

Is anyone as confused about this story as I am? So he lied about his girlfriend dying? He didn't even know here? Or he wasn't in on it? How can you not be in on it when you were her boyfriend..

According to Deadspin, not only did Te'o's girlfriend not die in the days leading up the Michigan State game, she didn't exist at all.

It appears Te'o and at least one family friend (Marques Tuiasasopo's cousin) were in on it together. Possibly others involved over time, including Te'o's father.

It's just weird.

Hearing rumors (just rumors) that Mantei may be gay, and growing up LDS and going to a Catholic school felt the need to conceal that. Thus the birth of the fake dead girlfriend plan.

It sounds insane, but this whole story is insane already, so I could see it. If Mantei is homosexual and wants to stay closeted he could've used the ''too crushed by my girlfriends death to find another woman'' story for a long time.

That rumor has been all over a UCLA scout,.com footballboard today. It apparently came from someone at USC. Manti nearly went to USC out of HS.

I guess the theory is in order to cover up being gay he invented a GF. When it got too big, he "killed her" but then the media picked that up and ran with it and he kept going with the lie until now.

No idea if it's true.

Team plans Te'o 'bobblehead' day

Late Thursday evening, an independent baseball team, the Florence Freedom in Florence, Ky., announced it would have "Manti Te'o Girlfriend Bobblehead Day."

As part of the promotion in late May, the first 1,000 fans will get an empty bobblehead box, there will be a pretend kiss cam for fans to kiss their imaginary friends and there will be an imaginary food fight in the kids' area, as well as an air guitar contest.
