Marbury won't opt out of deal

Stephon Marbury says he has found a home in Phoenix and intends to stay.

The Suns All-Star point guard said Saturday that he will not exercise an early termination clause in his contract that comes at the end of this season and that he wants to sign an extension.

"I'm meeting with Jerry Colangelo this week," he said. "It isn't going to be hard. It's going to be easy because I want to sign an extension. I want to stay here. This is home."

Marbury has two years remaining on his contract including this season. But he could exercise the option and test free agency. Many top players have done just that, including two of the league's top point guards, Jason Kidd and Steve Nash.

Marbury, who began his career in Minnesota before being traded to the Nets and then to the Suns, said he has no interest in testing free agency.

"I finally found a place that loves me for being me," he said.

Marbury would be eligible for an extension of up to five years that would total about $100 million over the life of the deal.
