The No. 1 seed Florida Gators will face the No. 4 seed Maryland Terrapins on Thursday, March 27 in a Sweet 16 matchup at the Chase Center in San Francisco.

Florida defeated the No. 8 Connecticut Huskies, 77-75, in comeback fashion on Sunday to advance to the Sweet 16, and Maryland won later in the day, 72-71, over No. 12 Colorado State on a buzzer-beater bank shot. The Gators are 2-2 all-time against the Terrapins, losing the most recent game in 2021-22 in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center. Of course, both teams feature completely different rosters and coaching staffs.

The Thursday time slots for the Sweet 16 are 7:09 p.m., 7:39 p.m.,10:09 p.m. and 10:39 p.m. (all ET). The two later times listed are tentative and will take place after the conclusion of the early slot games. The NCAA will announce the official schedule after all Round of 32 games are complete.

Todd Golden makes his return to San Francisco, where he coached the Dons from 2016 to 2022, first as an associate coach and then as the head coach from 2019 onward. He's sure to have some support in the arena, but it's hard to tell what the makeup of the audience will be. All four teams remaining in the West Region have little to no ties to the Pac-12 host — No. 3 Texas Tech faces No. 10 Arkansas in the other Sweet 16 matchup — but Florida is a national brand with a fanbase that travels well, especially for big games.
