Texas men's basketball and Tennessee are slated to play in the quarterfinals of the SEC tournament, a rematch of a regular season 74-70 win for the Volunteers. It's also the second straight year Texas and Tennessee have met in the postseason.
With the game set for tomorrow afternoon, social media is ablaze with an age-old debate. Who is the real UT?
The Southeastern Conference already doesn't endorse Texas as the UT of the conference. Fine.
The Tennessean news outlet also says that there's "no question" about which university is the "real UT." Sure.
But how about asking an unbiased source? The almighty Google search.
In the Statesman's research, a VPN was used in September to scramble the location to remove bias. Just for good measure, three different cities were connected to: Chicago, New York and Los Angeles.
Each time? The University of Texas at Austin was the first university that popped up on the results page. In fact, the University of Tampa was the second result shown before the University of Tennessee.

How about worldwide results? You can probably guess. Connecting to Albania? University of Texas at Austin. Australia? University of Texas at Austin. India? UT. The Volunteers didn't appear on any of these searches. The University of Toronto showed up before Tennessee did.
This isn't an opinion. Tennessee fans can complain about seniority; the Longhorns being newcomers in the SEC and not having the history Knoxville has. The internet does not lie (usually).
However, that has not stopped Volunteers fans and Longhorn nation from debating the who "real UT" is on social media before the game Friday.
