The women's basketball NCAA Tournament is approaching and brackets should be filled in.
Texas women's hoops earned a top seed and will host first-round games in Austin. The Longhorns are expected to make a deep run with hopes of being in the championship game.
The bigger question is who would they play?
South Carolina is on the same side of the bracket as the Longhorns and it will potentially be the fourth time the two teams meet this season. On the opposite side are new Big Ten powers USC and UCLA, the latter of which is the No. 1 overall seed.
Like the men's bracket, the women's side is dominated by SEC teams with 10 making the final bracket. Historically, SEC teams dominated the championship game in recent years with South Carolina winning in 2017, 2022 and 2024. LSU won its first title in 2023.
UConn has 11 national titles.
Texas can battle its way to a championship but staff members of the Austin American-Statesman do not have them lifting the championship trophy. Here is what they picked for their brackets:
