Mariners cut Sexson, put Bedard on DL (AP)

The Mariners have released first baseman Richie Sexson. Sexson was hitting .218 in 74 games with Seattle this season, striking out 76 times in 252 at-bats. He agreed in December 2004 to a $50 million, four-year contract. Seattle also put pitcher Erik Bedard on the disabled list.
