Now that this is completed, its my high speculation the M's are going to throw an offer Tampa likely can't refuse for Price.

Trade Aaron Hill to the Yankees for Zoilo Almonte and Mark Montgomery and then start Owings at 2B. That would free up $5 million more and then you go after Price and extend him with that 10.5 million free up to offer maybe $15 million a year. Or even go after Granderson.

here is my question when do teams stop signing people to these mega deals, especially those that will be out of their prime halfway through the deal I have yet to see one of the deals actually work out.

Cano's deal is absurd of course... but, this Grandy deal is beyond absurd!! The Mets will now be paying $15 million per, for a .215 hitter with 25 dingers and 150-160 strikeouts, who can't stay healthy and is now a marginal fielder! What a joke!!

How long before the Mariners openly regret this contract? I'd say... 2015. Also enjoy Safco Field Robby... your homers are probably going to drop by 40%.

Have you noticed that sports mimics society? The fat cats at the top and everyone else sinking. (Not that millionaire ballplayers who bat .240 could be called sinking. We pay a lot to be entertained.)

But within every set of guidelines, we have become a nation of extremes and it is leading us downhill.

Politics, sports, the hatred among religions, ambulance-chasing lawyers out of control. It is the price of success for a country less than 250 years old that experienced too-much-too-soon (which we loved) and is now paying the price. Sports stars, entertainers, politicians -- they are all a part of it.

Handing out a ten year deal to a 31 year old is lunacy. You would think these teams have learned. This keeping up with the Joneses crap cripples teams.

As long as it's not my team, I'm fine with other teams signing players to contracts that'll handicap them in a few years.

Personally, I'd rather build through the farm system.

Me too. Sprinkle in re-signing your own when the chance is there and filling in the blanks with low risk free agent signings.
