Marion Star Preseason Boys Track Athlete of the Year Poll: You pick the winner for 2025

With the 2025 high school boys track and field season starting this weekend, it’s time to ask Marion Star readers who they think the preseason ahlete of the year should be.

Voting at MarionStar.com and its app will continue through early morning on Friday, April 4. Fans are encouraged to vote as often as allowed. The leaders will be announced at a later date.

Here are the nominees for the poll complete with their highlights:

Marion Star Preseason Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year Poll​

Elgin: Landon Shepard, senior, field events and sprints, All-Ohio football linebacker and a varsity wrestler.

Highland: Jett Black, sophomore, indoor track state champion in the pole vault.

Marion Harding: Logan Thrapp, senior, sprints and long jump, basketball standout point guard.

Mount Gilead: Will Baker, senior, distance races, indoor track state champion in 1600 and runner-up in 3200 and 4x400.

Northmor: Cowin Becker, senior, long jump and sprints, state placer in long jump and qualifier in 400.

North Union: Griffin Osborne, junior, sprints, CBC Mad River 100-meter champion.

Pleasant: Will Lichtenberger, senior, distance races, elite runner when healthy.

Ridgedale: Brogan Weston, junior, distance races, district placer in 3200 and two-time state cross country qualifier.

River Valley: Ben Isler, sophomore, pole vault, regional qualifier in the pole vault.
