The 2024-25 Palm Beach County High School Sports Awards are happy to announce two-time World Series champion Mike Lowell as the guest speaker for its live event on May 28 at Palm Beach Convention Center.

The show is produced with the support of Baptist Health Orthopedic Care.

Lowell won his first World Series with his hometown Miami Marlins in 2003, and earned his second ring with the Boston Red Sox in 2007.

Lowell is a four-time All-Star selection, Gold Glove and Silver Slugger award recipients and an analyst appearing across MLB Network's programming.

Born to Cuban parents in Puerto Rico, Lowell was raised in South Florida before graduating from Coral Gables Senior High School. The righthanded infielder earned an athletic scholarship to Florida International University before he was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 20th round of the 1995 Major League Baseball draft.

Lowell, a third baseman, earned World Series Most Valuable Player honors in the Red Sox sweep of the Colorado Rockies in 2007, becoming only the second native of Puerto Rico, after Roberto Clemente, to earn such an honor.

Over his 13-year career, Lowell batted .279 with 223 home runs and 952 runs batted in. He was the recipient of the 2006 MLB.com Defensive Player of the Year Award and the 2006 Jackie Jensen Spirit Award.

Lowell's autobiography, Deep Drive: A Long Journey to Finding the Champion Within, was published in 2008, detailing his recovery from cancer and rise to World Series champion. Lowell and his wife, Bertica, have a son and a daughter and reside in Coral Gables.

The 2024-25 Palm Beach County High School Sports Awards are part of the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards program. Tickets for the event are on sale now and can be purchased here.
