NEW YORK - The Marquette men's basketball team needed that victory over Xavier in the Big East tournament quarterfinals on Thursday for its NCAA tournament profile.

If MU beats St. John's in the Big East semifinals Thursday, then the Golden Eagles could possibly push for a 6 seed.
