The first round of the 2025 Masters is in the books. Now it's on to Day 2.
Justin Rose holds the lead after the first round at Augusta National Golf Club for the fifth time in his career, shooting 7-under 65. He's three shots in front of Scottie Scheffler, the defending champion and world No. 1. Corey Conners and Ludvig Aberg, who finished runner-up last year, are also at 4 under.
Rory McIlroy, who needs the green jacket to complete the career grand slam, was 4 under thru 14 but doubles on Nos. 15 and 17 derailed his round. He finished at even-par 72.
As of Thursday afternoon, AccuWeather predicted a 44 percent chance of rain Friday at the Masters. That included a 14 percent chance of thunderstorms. Winds were forecast to be 16 mph out of the west, with gusts reaching as high as 39 mph. Friday’s high temperature was predicted to be 71 degrees.
