As Jim Nantz so eloquently put it, the Masters is a tradition unlike any other. But what are some personal traditions that Masters contestants have established through the years. Everyone seems to have created their own.
The 2025 Masters is April 10-13 at Augusta National Golf Club and the Golfweek Masters Surveys are back.
What is your Masters ritual? That is the question at hand in this survey.
I always had a chef that I loved. I could come home and eat at my own home and not have to clean up. Best of both worlds.
Every year, at the top of Magnolia Drive, I say a prayer of thanks for the privilege of being back at this great tournament. It’s an honor I never take for granted.
I always sit next to Trevor Immelman at the Champions Dinner. That's kind of my deal or our deal. Maybe it's just my deal.
I sit on the corner balcony with my wife and watch the world go by. We love that. We have breakfast and sit and enjoy the view.
I always get there on Saturday afternoon and first thing I do is put on my Green Jacket and have a beer in the Champions Locker Room.
I always buy egg salad sandwiches during practice rounds.
I always play with Bubba Watson in the Wednesday Par 3 Contest. Our wives are great friends as well, so, we have such a great time being together. It’s my favorite golf day of the year.
Making the cut. I’ve never missed. Hope that continues.
It's probably food related. I always try and make it a point to get an egg salad BLT.
I have a nice tradition of playing a practice round with Freddie Couples and Tiger Woods.
Larry Mize from Columbus, Georgia, always lets me come have lunch with him on Monday or Tuesday in the Champions Locker Room. That's pretty cool.
When I walk down the 10th hole, I go to the rope line and walk with my wife. She always gets an Azalea, and there's a volunteer over there, same guy every year, and he’s from Vermont and we say hello and then enjoy a walk together.
This is only going to be my second Masters but I love going beforehand and soaking the place in and getting the awe factor out of the way so you can focus on what you’re doing.
I make sure I have an ice cream sandwich.
As far as personal traditions go, I usually come in Sunday morning. I typically hand out an award at the Drive, Chip & Putt Championship. That's always a fun thing for me to do and a fun thing that Augusta National does.
Then it's tradition on Sunday at the Masters, past champions get to bring a guest to play. I think last year it's been my sisters, and this year I think my mom is going to come play. That day is a good day for me to soak in being back at the Masters, enjoy the memories and have some fun with a family member or close friend and just enjoy the golf course, enjoy the day, before the workweek starts on Monday.
I kind of try to get everything out of the way on Sunday and get all the lore and everything that goes with being at Augusta National, kind of get that out of the way and settle into a tournament week.
