It is not like he knew the offense well enough to give them the plays or something. :)

wouldn't that put them on double secret probation considering that whole lockout and no contact with any players thingamagig I'm hearing about .... plus that other whole player under contract with another team deal

then again - it wouldn't be a month if someone didn't speculate some usc/seahawks connection

Since when did the threat of probation matter to PC? :)

Lockout yes, I don't see how this could be an official visit to the Seahawks. Maybe he's just on a vacation to Seattle, and ran into Pete Carroll at Starbucks...

As for contract, he only signed a one year deal with the Texans, so he would be a free agent anyway.

the texans made a tender offer to him though, which would seemingly put some restrictions on this

we need THESMEL to tell us of his contractural obligations - STAT!

Ohhhhhh. Matt Leinart. When I saw this thread I thought it was about Matt Ware. ;)

I hope Leinart does land with Seattle. I think it would be a good fit for him and for the Seahawks and I think he would get a chance to compete for the starting job(which I think he'd win vs. Whitehurst).

Also, I hope he goes there just for the storyline potential. Both Leinart and the Cardinals would get twice a year to prove who was right.

He has a 1sr round tender on him from Houston. Seattle makes great sense. Look how it worked out for Williams. PC has a huge ego and will believe he can resurrect Matt's career and he might. Matt will have a chip on his shoulder if he can borrow the passion needed to muster one.

Source: Matt Hasselbeck, Seattle talked

By Adam Schefter
ESPN
May 10, 2011, 4:22 PM ET

Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell called quarterback Matt Hasselbeck when the lockout was briefly lifted and expressed to him how much the team wanted him to return, according to a league source.

Hasselbeck was said to be open to the idea of returning to Seattle, where he developed into a Pro Bowl player. One source familiar with the quarterback's thinking said Hasselbeck now is "as likely to return there as he ever was."

Bevell called Hasselbeck during the window in which teams were allowed to talk to their players when the lockout was lifted by a U.S. District Court judge before being reinstated pending the NFL's appeal in a federal court.

After Hasselbeck and the Seahawks were unable to agree on a contract last winter and up until now, there were questions about whether the free agent quarterback would be back in Seattle. But now, the signs point to the two sides potentially reuniting again whenever the NFL's work stoppage ends.

Hasselbeck's return to Seattle would be a significant addition for the Seahawks and for the NFC West quarterback puzzle. It would leave the Seahawks with Hasselbeck and Charlie Whitehurst and leave Arizona as the NFC West team with the most glaring need at quarterback -- and the most likely destination for Philadelphia Eagles backup quarterback Kevin Kolb, who has requested a trade in order to gain a starting job.

Arizona has been intrigued with Kolb since it has become known that the Eagles are open to dealing Michael Vick's backup. Kolb would be amenable to playing for the Cardinals and trying to fill the void that was created when Kurt Warner retired over one year ago. And if Seattle has Hasselbeck, Arizona would be more determined than ever to go out and land a quarterback such as Kolb.

San Francisco is the other NFC West team with questions at quarterback. But the 49ers are hoping and expecting to bring back veteran quarterback Alex Smith. The team also invested a second-round pick on Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

I was a Leinart fan when we drafted him. He never did anything that made me think he coudln't be a good leader/QB in the NFL. Hope the best for him if he goes there, but if it's him or the playoffs then stomp him into the field.

I'm hoping Matt gets a shot. In my heart I believe he would have helped us win the division last year. This year we would have been looking at everything but a QB. Maybe we would have even drafted one.

I agree pretty much with your first to sentences.

OT: Take a look at the last two sentences you wrote and see if they make sense together...just mentioned it to help you out.

Texans first round tendered matty, moves him to the top of the FA class as I said then now and forever. I aint flopping my assessment, some people are damn fools.

I predicted that Leinart would have been a top 10 elite QB for the Cardinals last year, His 130 QB rating 78% completion percentage and outstanding performance ON THE FIELD last year , only made me more concrete on the matter.

I don't know what the hell others was watching! Matt has a 405 yard rookie record game, 200 + yards lots as a rookie, 3 -100 + QB ratings as a rookie, scored 2 TD's in the first 1/4 of his first 2 rookie starts, including MNM against the Best SB Bears defense in many years.

Boys got skills, great all around QB with no glaring weaknesses in any QB skillset, Not the best at any one but top 10 in all of them at prototypical size.

the strongest stupidest voices are not always right. Our team culture sucks and is getting worse. DD deserves top money, Matt needs cut ,crap, has buried us! And we can't get up.

I might blame the players like whiz, If it was not happening, all over the field in every unit O, D and ST! Our players are plummeting in production and value, While the are a first round tender to a team with a top 10 QB.

I assessed that matty would need a year to get acclimated on a new team in a new offense and only be a mid level NFL QB ranked about 15-16 his next year out. But not so in Seattle under Carrol.

he could be top 10 immediately, like He would have been after 5 years in Arizona.

I cry foul. How does Seattle get to schedule a visit with anyone when no other team is allowed to. Merely talking to someone at this point should be a violation of the lockout rules. The new season has not yet begun under the lockout rules, therefore any contact with a player from another team should be in violation of the lockout rules.

If Seattle is smart they will sign Leinart and make him the starter quickly. The guy is ready now and would lead them to a division title easily. Give him a couple years starting and I think he will be very good. Whiz really blew it when he released Leinart. I hope Leinart finds a starting job somewhere. He will make some team look really smart. Not only for how good he will play but how cheap it will be to sign him.

Yeah, Leinart will be able to show the Cardinals that he's the best emergency QB in the NFL.
He will be ready, because he won't be distracted by any of his teammates actually speaking to him.

performance on the field last year? you mean in preseason? Max Hall looked top 10 in preseason too. and Stephan Williams. They must be rated elite too.

You know for some reason the Cards always seem to have some WR look great in pre season and then not ever do anything special. I guess maybe you just notice the WRs more because they get so many yards when they make a catch and our run game is usually so anemic.

There was that guy who was the leading receiver in NFL Europe. McCoullough I think. Then we had LeRon McCoy and Dom Byrd and Onrea Jones and last year Williams.

Ok, which of you posters is Gambo? He came up with this online today and it sounded like he was reading this thread.
