Chris McAlister stated he wants to retire a Raven. It looks like he and Baltimore are trying to work out a long term agreement. Scratch his name off of your free agent wish list.

Hey what about the secret deal his dad made with Maddog? Let's sue him for breach of contract (-:

I saw something about this and I wondered if this in an indication that they want him too, or that he realizes he has to do some fence mending? They talked about him Saturday realizing that he has to mature and stop some of the silly stuff. I have read several reports that he and billick don't get along at all so I still have some hope he'll get to FA.

Great player, would be a nice add but I can sure understand why he'd want to stay in that Raven defense.

I knew it was too good to be true!

Maybe Denny Green can convince him otherwise

I don't think the free agent market is going to end up nearly as lucrative as many might have thought.

The trend the past approx. 3 years (maybe more) has been away from the FA market.
The initial "honeymoon" period is pretty much over for free agents, and has been steadily declining every year.
Most teams are realizing that top echelon players are too hard to come by, and are not letting them hit the market, if they possibly can.

There will likely be SOME, but I don't expect the market to be saturated or flooded, by any means.

Top level CB's are at a premium, and in high demand everywhere right now. No team is going to let top talent walk, if they can help it.

I agree. I think that they guys that are going to be let loose are going to be in the "solid" range, or "good potential but question marks".

I think that Bailey, McAllister, and C. Woodson are all going to stay out of the free agency watters. I do think that guys like Shawn Springs, Fernando Bryant (maybe... I could see the "Franchise" tag for a trade...), Taylor and Vincent in Philly all coming free.

The caveat is that Springs isn't the player he was seven years ago, and probably isn't that much better than Starks. Bryant I haven't followed that closely, but there has to be something wrong with him if J-ville's letting him go (maybe someone that's been following the story would help here?). Taylor and Vincent are both old, and you probably don't want them for more than two years, but they'll be looking for five-year deals for big money.

I dunno. Kearse is going to be gone from the Titans. I think that he should be the number one target in free agency. I think that you can take the best player available at #3, then draft corners in rounds 2, 3 and 5. I think that history has shown that free agency yields some damaged goods. I think that Kearse is worth the risk, but I don't know about these corners...

Unfortunately, I agree with Tango, because that means our options will be somewhat curtailed. With less quality FAs out there, the competition to sign them will increase, and our chances at getting them will decrease.

Let's hope our true reputation is really changing. We might see it getting better, but that doesn't mean FAs do.

It looks like Winfield will be available.I read in some publication that Buffalo won't pay him big money because he doesn't make alot of INT's.Thet can't be that stupid but,if they are, hopefully we take advantage of their stupidity and lock him up for 5 years. He is absolutely my favorite ex-buckeye in the NFL.You have never seen a CB with his size have his tackling ability.Throw that on top of excellent coverage skills and you have the makings of an all-pro.

Oh, yeah. I forgot about him. Him and Starks would make a very, very good CB duo. Put him in the NFC West, and I bet his picks go up quite a bit.

I wonder if we'll be able to get him for less than Dre' Bly money, though, since his stats are less impressive. Hmm...

We're more likely to get a free agent CB than a free agent DE IMO. I've never thought that McAlister or Bailey would really hit the market. But, there are some other decent options out there. So, we can't get steak. Hamburger looks just as good to a starving man. Better than the Vienna Sausages we've had back there as starters.

Not a suprise at all! The Ravens are a good team and have a ton of cap room.
