McAuley runners shine at Diamond Invite

DIAMOND, Mo. — McAuley Catholic High School distance runners dominated the Diamond Invitational Track and Field Meet on Tuesday.

McAuley won the top three spots in the boys 800-meter run. Michael Parrigon (2:09.99) won the event, followed by Connor Taffner (2:14.95) and Will Mollnow (2:15.76).

The Warriors also swept the 1,600-meter run with a 1-2-3 finish. Parrigon (4:57.24) won the event, followed by Trae Veer (4:59.81) and Ryker Veer (5:55.51).

McAuley also claimed the top two spots in the 3,200-meter run. Parrigon won his third individual race with a time of 10:56.48 and Trae Veer was runner up (11:11.26).

The Warriors also won the boys 4x400 meter relay (3:44) and the 4x800 meter relay (9:08.58.)

On the girls' side, McAuley's Olivia Parrigon won the 800-meter run (2:39.09).

In addition to the wins in the distance races, McAuley also logged second-place finishes in several other events.

Trae Veer was runner-up in the boys triple jump with an 11.97-meter leap and Samantha Conrad finished second in the girls discus with a 26.8-meter throw.

The girls 4x800 meter relay team also logged a runner-up finish with a time of 12:03.92 and Edie Nolan (6:43.06) was third in the girls 1,600-meter run.

Seneca

Seneca High School's Tyrone Harris swept the sprint events, logging wins in the boys 100-meter dash (11.83), 200-meter dash (23.39) and 400-meter dash (53.92). He also finished third in the triple jump (11.74 meters).

Seneca also earned a first-place finish in the 4x200 meter relay (1:36.53). Grant Landers won both the long jump (5.68 meters) and the triple jump (12.57 meters) for the Indians, and Brock Pendergraft won both the boys discus (45.28 meters) and the shot put (12.55 meters).

Seneca freshman Jolie King won the girls discus with a 27.8-meter throw and the girls 4x400 meter relay team claimed first place with a time of 4:29.54.

Seneca's Hadley Hilburn (1.52 meters) and Anna Adkins (1.52 meters) finished second and third in the girls high jump. The Indians were second in both the girls 4x100 meter relay (54.44) and the 4x200 meter relay (1:53.87) and posted a third-place finish in the 4x800 meter relay (12:25.92).

Seneca sprinter Cambry Long was third in both the girls 200-meter dash (28.88) and 400-meter dash (1:06.91).

Pierce City

Pierce City High School's Emma Hunt won both the girl's 1,600-meter (5:50.83) and 3,200-meter runs (12:40.62).

Addison Avondet logged a win in the girls 300-meter hurdles for the Eagles with a time of 50.99 and both the girls 4x800 meter relay team (11:31.50) and the 4x100 meter relay team (53.97) claimed first place.

Pierce City's Eli Genzler won the boys 300-meter hurdles (43.60) and also finished third in both the 110-meter hurdles (18.91) and the high jump (1.68 meters).

Brock Flehmer won the boys pole vault (3.2 meters) for the Eagles and teammate Levi Knight (3.04 meters) was runner-up.

Pierce City's Paige Fenske won both the girls triple jump (10.04 meters) and the pole vault (2.59 meters). She also finished second in the long jump (4.72 meters).

Both the Eagle boys 4x100 meter (47.40) and 4x200 meter (1:36.54) relay teams finished second, and Landon Stamphill (5.55 meters) was runner-up in the boys long jump.

Stamphill also finished third in the boys 200-meter dash (24.53) and Joseph Leavitt was third in the 3,200-meter run (12:09.67). Kordel McBlair was third in the boys shot put (12.01 meters).

Grace Boderick was second in the girls shot put with a mark of 8.77 meters. The Eagles also earned runner-up in the girls 4x400 meter relay (4:47.10) and third in the 4x200 meter relay (2:00.59).

Ginger Leavitt was third in the girl's 800-meter run (2:46.46). Sara Witt was third in the pole vault (2.13 meters) and Jaelee Mettlach finished third in the triple jump (8.99 meters).

Jasper

Crystal Smith won four events for the Jasper High School girls. She finished first in the 100-meter dash (13:34), the 100-meter hurdles (16.56), the high jump (1.57 meters) and the long jump (5.69 meters).

Teammate Chloe Storm won the girls 400-meter dash (1:03.85), was second in the 200-meter dash (28.15), and finished third in the 100-meter dash (14.08).

Jasper's Gaige Mitchell was runner-up in the boys shot put (38.65 meters) and Jasper's boys 4x800 meter relay (9:25.12) also finished second. William Ritchart was third in the boys high jump (1.68 meters).

Diamond

Diamond High School's Nicholas Meza was runner-up in both the boys 100-meter dash (11.84) and the 200-meter dash (23.5).

Zachary Roughton was runner-up in the boys 400-meter dash and the Wildcats boys 4x400 meter relay won second place with a time of 3:50.71.

On the girls side, Diamond's 4x100 meter relay team finished third (57.12).
