Falcons sign McBride, Russell
March 24, 2003

The Atlanta Falcons today announced they have signed CB Tod McBride and LB Twan Russell as unrestricted free agents. McBride comes to Atlanta from the Green Bay Packers, while Russell joins the Falcons from the Miami Dolphins. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed by the team.

Jurecki said on 1060 Am that martay jenkins visited atlanta today or yesterday (surprising given that all of top brass would be on flights to arizona yesterday for the owners meeting). Maybe he meant saturday...

LOL.... yeah, I'm sure Atlanta is going to "throw the bank" at Martay, after having already spent money signing Peerless Price and resigning Finneran.
What IS with this guy? I mean, it really makes you wonder......apparently such an unrealistic legend in his own mind.
Like I said before makes you wonder what his wonderlich score was, and maybe just how "coachable" he really is.

tango...there was an update on saturday that he has lowered his demands to $3 mil over 2 seasons ($1.5 per year) from $3 mil per year.. The cards are offering about $1 mil per season.. so he has come down to earth somewhat..

Just a wild thought... maybe Martay is concerned about playing with the Cards because he doesn't want to be a gunner. He may think this is why he got hurt and that his development as a WR may have been hampered. Yes I agree is Agent has given him unrealistic expectations as well. He may also be one of the remaining players who has a bitter taste in his mouth on how the Cards do business. I'm hoping RG is starting to change that perception by the moves he made at the end of last year and this offseason.

It's hard to read minds. But am beginning to think a pattern is emerging.

Maybe I'm totally wrong, but it just seems as though certain personality types seem to want to come here, and certain personality types want to opt out.

- The good-guy, solid-citizen, community-spirited types seem to want to be here or come here.

- The high-ego, high-living and money-first types seem to want to leave us, use us for leverage with other clubs or avoid us altogether.

Anyone agree? Disagree?

I think I'll refrain from making any judgement-calls on whether or not this is such a good or not-so-good thing and let you guys duke it out among yourselves.
