I am guessing the east team is expected to win?

Based on projected draft positions, I'd say yes. However, great players do not always make for a great team.

The matchups in the game should be very interesting: Livingston and Telfair/Aldridge and Howard. Aldridge has been saying he would not come out unless he was a top ten pick, so this game could be huge for him.

Supposedly Josh Smith did not do much in a previous all star game. This game could decide if he goes in the top 5 or falls to the middle of the first round.

Is there a listing of the players somewhere on the internet?

If I remember, there is a h.s. center that was going to play?
Not Swift, but someone named ?? Randolph?

I gave the link, but here it is again:

2004 McDonald's All American(R) Team Announced

I think the guy you are referring to is Randolph Morris. Most mock drafts have dropped him because he has stated clearly he is going to college. Prior to that he was considered a mid to late first round pick.

Did any of you hear what happened in the dunk contest????

If you haven't heard it's something that is hard to fathom. It is indeed a rare but not unprecedented occurance a la Billy Jean King vs. Whatever the dudes name was.

A 17 year old girl....I can't remember the name....I want to say candice or something...per KDUS this morning....won the slam dunk contest.

What's more amazing and more shocking, she had a tear or tore her acl last july and was wearing a knee brace. WOW

It'll be on tonight on ESPN...Kdus said 6 o'clock Arizona time....I'm dying to see this.

I think you missed the joke. Announcing that a dunk contest was won by a teenaged girl with a knee brace is an April Fools' Day prank.

nope the girl actually won...her dunks weren't that great but she made all of them and kinda won by default.

I'm watching the game right now. So far I've had to say that I really haven't been impressed much with anyone. Howard looks pretty skinny still.

I'm really wondering about some of these listed measurements. They have Dwight Howard at 6'10" 225 lbs. and that Swift kid (far and away the ugliest person in the game) at 6'11" 245 lbs.. I would have guessed the other way around with regards to their weights. They have Randolph Morris listed at 7'0" 260 lbs.. I thought he was 6'9". He was impressive in a game televised earlier against Howard.

OK, I just saw a spectacular block by Josh Smith followed by a highflying slam dunk by him on the other end.

Yeah, the dunks were extremely boring, but she made them, which was pretty impressive, so people gave her good scores.

Wow, I had to read it in several places before I believed it. But yep, I was wrong. I just figured it had to be a joke. I mean, really, doesn't it sound almost exactly like something the "Sidd Fynch" (sp?) author would make up?

Anyway, sorry to have been snide to those who originally referred to the story here.
