Coach White and the McFarland students have a lot to learn about each other but when White starts to realize the boys' exceptional running ability, things begin to change. Soon something beyond their physical gifts becomes apparent - the power of family relationships, their unwavering commitment to one another and their incredible work ethic. With grit and determination, the unlikely band of runners eventually overcomes the odds to forge not only a championship cross-country team but an enduring legacy as well. Along the way, Coach White realizes that his family finally found a place to call home and both he and his team achieve their own kind of American dream.

Took my daughters to see this, really good. My daughters are half Mexican and so a lot of this was very close to home for me which I'm sure played into why we liked it so much, but it was a very good movie. One of Costners better performances in a while and all the kids were great.

Not the same old White teacher goes into a rough school to save everyone. This guy was basically exiled to there because he had gotten fired from every other school, and these boys were nothing to him but a way out, at first.

I recently watched it. Solid film. Worth watching once.

This was something they completely changed for the film. White had been teaching at the school since 1964 and coaching cross country since 1980.
