NFL | McGahee Signs With Nike - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
11:14 PT: Len Pasquarelli reports for ESPN.com Miami RB Willis McGahee has signed an endorsement contract with Nike. It is believed to be one of the biggest ever negotiated with a draft prospect. The four-year deal pays $50,000 annually and is also worth $12,000 in shoes and apparel merchandise.

I read somewhere that there was speculation he may somehow bail out of the draft..get 100% healthy and reenter next season and try to be a 1st round pick. Depends on where he thinks he will be drafted..if it is late 2nd or 3rd round and he will not play anyway next season...I think the thought may be..hey..I will be stuck with a 2 or 3 year deal for minimal $$ if I am not a 1st round pick...so why not rehabilitate 100% and try to get a big payday next year as a 1st round pick..

Can he get out of the draft and re-enter next season? Is there some type of injury clause that would allow him to not enter this year?

What i read may well not be possible..

I believe that he can just refuse to sign an re-enter the draft next year.

March 7, 2003 13:10:14 PT According to Len Pasquarelli of ESPN.com, there is some talk among some teams that if University of Miami RB Willis McGahee (knee) isn't happy with the round in which he is taken in next month's NFL Draft, he will simply refuse to sign a contract. He will then spend a full year rehabilitating from his devastating knee injury suffered in the Fiesta Bowl, and go back into the 2004 draft.

Couldn't a team that picked him sign him to an incentive laden contract that would pay him big bucks if he was healthy, regardless of where he was drafted?
