I spotted the old news in "Last Post" but no one replied to it... so I thought others might have been as unobservant as me.

JB Bickerstaff was promoted to interim head coach. I don't think this could be Bernie Bickerstaff but maybe its his son - or even his daughter. Hardin's scoring has taken off but Houston hasn't done as well: 7-4 against the easiest 11 games you could imagine... heck we could probably do that well. They have a tough stretch coming up though.

Reportedly McHale was fired because of conflict between him and Harden, namely that he wanted Harden to play defense and Harden wanted to be a celebrity. Harden is the new Stephan Marbury I fear. He may even be the new Alvin Iverson but I dont think Houston is ever going to win with their current lineup. Dwight is just too much of a headcase, Harden too, and with a really lousy defensive edge, the team is a ship without a captain right now. It's just not a good situation in Houston.

I think the idea in Houston was that Harden would score and Dwight would defend so much to the point that he could make up for Hardens lack of defense.

It just doesn't work that way in the NBA. Individual efforts are great but to win it has to be a team effort. Everyone has to defend. Everyone has to rebound. Everyone has to play hard, and then on top of all that, the special players can do what they do. When you dont have all that other stuff again, you're Starberry or AI.

Or the next Jerry Stackhouse, who averaged 30 points a game at age 26 and then quickly faded from the ranks of top players.

Getting an outrageous 40 minutes a game while shooting 40% from the field. I don't think he faded so much as his coaches figured out that he wasn't really helping much.

Perfect.

I don't wish any of that on Harden. I just fear that's where it's headed in Houston.

And yes obviously I would take him but that's not really what we're discussing lol

It's his son.
