I noticed it in the playoffs for instance when it was all about McNabb and hardly ever about Warner, or Ryan of the Falcons ect... Those dang Cardinals kept winning and the sports media world hated it. If we would have won the Superbowl, the media really would have had it hard. A lot of football fans where into what the Cardinals where accomplishing but the media didn't want no part of it (can't blame them since a majority of them kept predicting we would lose with every playoff game we went into, guess there is only so much crow one can eat). Really, they were faced with paying attention to a team they hardly even knew about and all the tired old cliches of us as losers were not appliable anymore and they did not know what to say. Draft is over and for the most part it was ignore the Cardinals....Cardinals are drafting, lets go to a commercial. Cardinals draft Wells after he slides all the way to 31 and if was no big deal but Crabtree slides to a team with no QB and it becomes a major event. Edge gets cut and now they mention the Cardinals due to a name that no longer has to be associated with the Cardinals. If it was not for Boldin not possibly being a Cardinal, I doubt one would even know the NFC Champs where drafting.

I have a nickname for this team as far as the sports media world is concerned...
The Arizona Partypoopers because I believe this team will continue to win and progress and force the media to talk about a team they would rather ignore LOL

The Cards success last year was good for the media. While we may not be the media darlings like the Cowboys or a host of other teams I think you are reaching quite a bit saying the media world hated it. This "woe is me" attitude some have taken when it comes to media coverage is getting silly.

Yup. I really get a kick out of Trey Wingo constantly referring to the Cardinals as "Super Bowl losers."

But that's just the way it will be - either until we reach the playoffs 3 or 4 years in a row or at least win the Super Bowl once. That or until many of the old war-horses who populate the airways start to die off.

I doubt it, D Backs won the world series and didn't get any respect and how long have Suns been waiting for respect?

Reality is we are Arizona...

It's still just desert wilderness as far as most the U.S. is concerned. To some extent they are correct, yet most of us which live here wouldn't want it any other way.

To those of you that moved here from somewhere in the Eastern U.S., how often do relatives visit as opposed to how often they expect you to travel back East? It's as if somehow the planes only fly in one direction!

My point is the Cards going to the Superbowl was a good story for the media. Cinderella, underdog etc. To nit pick over that Chris Wells fell to 31 and not get the same "surprise" that Crabtree got for falling to the 10 spot and correlating that the media wanting the Cards to go away is a little silly.

For once I think it worked in the Cards favor. Look at TO and the circus around him in Philly and then again in Dallas. I think Rosenhaus tried to duplicate that here in AZ with Q and it just didn’t work. It has been quiet for quite some time now on the Q front and I think it is all because the lack of media exposure. It is not because Rosenhaus didn’t try.

You're right. Nice place to visit in the dead of winter.

I don't buy into the concept that there is a mass media conspiracy against any one thing. Each member of the media brings their own bias.

Portland Oregon these days.
Personally, my favorite words came after the Cards annihilated Carolina. One of the commentators said something about all those years when the Arizona stadium had mostly visiting team fans -- and now he was watching Coach Whis lapping the Panther's stadium, high-fiving Cards fans.

He couldn't believe his eyes.

i hardly ever care what the media says or does...but i do notice.

i dont ever recall anyone calling the patriots a year prior the 'superbowl losers'

i think it is their way of showing respect towards a team that should not have been there but played well. 'good job kid you tried hard now let the big kids play'

kiper jr. and mcshay had a draft podcast the day after...they broke down in depth the drafts of, indy, new england, tennesee, nyg, and...their exact words 'of course the superbowl champions' the pittsburg steelers. they referred to this coverage as 'talking about the top teams in the nfl' dont you think...considering the drafter order...we should be in that mix?

I personally do not care really because as a Cardinal fan I have lived with it for over thirty years, as I listed at the end 'LOL', but come on geezzzz, 20yroldcardfan hit it on the head

There is disorder in the football universe.

The sad-sack AZ Cardinals had the temerity, unmitigated gall to not simply win a division, but a conference and were within moments of a Super Bowl.

How do we deal with this aberration?

Well, for now let's simply ignore that it ever happened.

Disagree on the Suns. Almost all the media loved the first year of SSOL.
The Bidwills have angered a lot of people over the years. They're not gonna forget easily.

The media still thinks of the Cardinals as having been an abberation last season. Until we follow it up with another appearance in THE GAME , and PREVAIL :newcards: I don't think we have their respect.

It has to be sustained success.

Technically? Sure... Realistically? Not really... Not sure why Cards fans continue to expect widespread love and respect from the media. Based upon what? Almost a century's worth of alltime futility, followed by one year of brilliance?
I've said this time and again and so I'll say it again... It's wrong to expect "the media" to shower praise and respect on this team... They don't deserve that sort of recognition... yet... Oh - for us diehards, it's certainly appropriate for us to druel all over our team. However, it will take a follow-up season on par with last season (or close to it), before "the media" begins to cease with the laughter and disrespect...

C'mon guys... it was one season... one... You want "the media" to respect our team? Let 2009 make 2008 look like the beginning of something special. Win the west like you're supposed to... Win a game or two in the post season. Don't need to go to the Super Bowl, just get to the post season by winning the west, and then win a game or two...
If we don't do this and fall back to 7 & 9 or worse, you guys are going to really, really, really HATE "the media"!!!

That game in New England didn't help with this. It seemed like we were getting a little more love before that turd bomb.

Cowboys WIN the Super Bowl???

Ok! Imagine if each of us die-hard Cardinal fans had to do a write up on the Super Bowl winning Cowboys?? Stick in our gut?? Would rather volunteer for a root canal?? NOT at the top of our wish-list, huh? This is my view of the media AND I think its' view of the Cardinals. They keep wanting to paint us as the same ol' Cardinals. It sounds good to them. The way it should be in their version of the NFL universe. BUT, guess what media, NFL fans, etc. THESE CARDINALS ARE GOOD and are only going to get better if the "Super 6" stay in control. (ie; Michael B., Whiz', Grimm, Lott, Keim, and Graves.) We're here to stay, my friends. :D The media will just have to agonize over it and cry and gnash their teeth. ...And after all the grief they've given us over the years I hope their ulcers get ulcers. GO CARDS!! :D
