I know its been a long time since I have posted here, Couple of years I think. I do follow and read though. My question is, why all of a sudden are we in this stage of mediocrity?

Oh wait.. that pic is from December 2012, right before Whiz got canned and Arians and Keim rode in to save the day. What year is your wayback machine set to??

Must be from the 1971, 1972 and 1973 seasons where the Cards finished each season at exactly 4-9-1.

He's Right

The Cardinals were terrible last night in so many ways. If it was not for Fitz, the season would be over. If the Cardinals do not get their act together when they play Carolina next week, the bloom will be off the Rose.

I think we are all looking for the regular season Cards team that absolutely dominated the Niners, Eagles, Packers, etc...

This team is capable of greatness. Need to put it all together on Sunday.

They play well enough every week to at a minimum have a chance to win at the end of every game. That is about all you can ask for in regards to consistency. They will once again do the same thing next week. Win or lose they will have a chance to win that game late in the 4th quarter.

The way the Panthers started out today, I thought they would destroy the Seahawks and be invincible against the Cardinals. But the Panthers performance in the second half gives me some hope. The key is what kind of Carson Palmer will play next week. If it is the same one who played the last two games for us, we are in trouble. I thought he looked a little scared last night.

I think what he is saying is that we played very mediocre yesterday which is true. Carson CANNOT come out and have a game like he did against GB, that just cannot happen.

This is how I feel. If that team shows up we can win. If we play the way we played yesterday (or in games like Baltimore, the first Rams game, etc) we will not be lucky enough to win again.

We dodged a bullet yesterday. Palmer had one of his worst games and somehow we still won.

Carson's game yesterday reminded me of the game against the Seahawks in 2013(?) when he kept throwing picks and refused to give up and threw the game winner to Floyd in the end zone.

When Carson's on he is amazing and when he is off he just grinds and grinds and keeps fighting trying to find a way to win. I admire him as much if not more after yesterdays game then I did and I have him on a pedestal as high as Warner.

This and the loss against the seahags a ciuple weeks ago.

I think Palmer was stressed about the 'no playoff wins' thing and his nerves got the best of him for the first 3 quarters. And of course the seahawks game was meaningless and they played like it was.

Hopefully, now that that particular monkey is off Palmers back we can move forward.

Good teams find a way to win no matter how they play. The Cardinals did that Saturday. If the Cardinals win this Sunday in the same manner does it make any difference? A win puts them in the Super Bowl. This year the Super Bowl will feature 2 teams that had the top four win/loss records from both conferences.

Whew

Well, I thought after reading the first three or four post, that the place had turned into a bunch of smartass'es. Then the rest understood what I was talking about. So thanks for that. :)

Internet snark is a tough foe. Im glad to see someone can take the time to thoughtfully answer. I think its a combo of lack of desire in week 17, and then nerves for Palmer on Saturday. I also agree with the rest of the field that that cannot happen on Sunday.

Funny how everyone is arguing like you meant the entire season.

The seahawks failure I saw valid excuses though. For how flat we were vs GB, I have nothing. We played terrible and barely won and will have to play 100x better to bear Carolina. I felt like Palmers finger is impacting us more than we know.

My problem with this theory is he has also never won two playoff games, he has also not won a super bowl and etc. If first playoff game was too much pressure for him than he will fold this weekend. I am hoping it was something else.

I disagree. The first playoff game is like a milestone. Sometimes players have trouble getting past those career milestones. The next one would be the Super Bowl.....but hopefully it wont happen.

But what do I know. You wouldn't have all that much trouble convincing me that Palmer has never played clutch football where he just stepped up and took over a game the way Larry did Saturday. And that means he just isnt capable of being that guy.

I don't think that is the case but admit it is a possibility.

Marino never won a SB but did win some playoff games. If Dan had never won a playoff game he may have not made it into the Hall of Fame.

Palmer now knows he can win in the play offs and the NFC championship game and the SB are play off games.

He got this folks.

I am being optimistic as well but Ill admit I havent been this nervous since the first few weeks of the year. I got to a point where all of the anxiety was gone because I knew we could dominate. Back to normal now!
