A guess on Garland's number of wins? Maybe 8 to 10? Sherzer? 6?

I didn't watch Chicago anything and try not to. It was a serious question for people who know him better.

Also, pitching in the NL should add a few more wins than if he was pitching in the AL. My projection on Max is based on him staying healthy, which is a big if.

Damnit, damnit, damnit.

If Max Scherzer is managed properly, he could be the next Tim Lincecum.

He wasn't managed properly last season and it caused his injury.

Now he is being slotted at #5 and will be used irregularly again.

Despite Scherzer going from inactivity to starter to long reliever, his ERA of 3.05 was the lowest of all D'backs starters last season. Lower than Webb's 3.30 and Haren's 3.33.

In today's MLB world, an ERA of 3.05 deserves to be rewarded. The fans deserve to see our potential superstar develop.

I'd put Max Scherzer #3 in the rotation and give him a fair chance. But that obviously is not going to happen. :bang:

And yet all 5 of these starters would probably be the ace of the Dodger's rotation

Their pitching sucks, despite their line up.

In a short series, good pitching beats good hitting. But it takes 162 games to get to the short series.

I hope that our hitters follow Conor Jackson's lead, don't try to put every pitch into the seats and are selective.

It's ironic that the Republic showed a photo of Eric Byrnes looking up after one of his wild one-handed uppercut swings when he went 0-3 with three harmless pop flys in his first game.

But I see that he went 3-3 in the next game. I hope that means he'll try for line drives rather than sky-high popups rather than being the worst offender.

That will help the pitching staff, too.

Thanks. Didn't know these particulars. I just remember him getting hurt so quickly.

I don't know Billingsly looks like he will develop into an ace within the next couple of years, but after him your right unless Kershaw develops this year.

I have no problem with Max being #5 right now. He will not be ready until mid April, so there is not pressure on him. We all know that Davis will struggle at some point and Max will jump into that 3 spot then and Davis will be the fifth guy to help him stay healthy.

Yes, but "jumping in" is what caused his injury last season.

Preparing for a regular starting rotation spot every 5th game is going to preserve a young pitcher's arm better than sitting in the bullpen to come in and pitch three innings upon short notice or not pitching at all.

Your point about Davis is valid. He is much better equipped to handle that situation and prosper in it.
