With two rounds in the books, one of championship week's greatest atmospheres and nights have arrived.

Welcome to Friday Night at The Garden of the Big East basketball tournament, where four teams will play under the lights of New York City in front of a sold out crowd in The World's Most Famous Arena with a trip to the conference championship game on the line.

Act I of the night features a heavyweight match between No. 1 seed St. John's and No. 5 seed Marquette, two teams that met in Milwaukee at Fiserv Forum just six days ago. The Johnnies handled Butler with ease on Thursday in the quarterfinals, while the Golden Eagles came back from down 14 to upset Xavier.

Marquette is not only looking to avenge a regular season sweep to the Red Storm, but is also looking to punch its ticket to Championship Saturday for the third straight season. As for St. John's, it is looking for its first appearance in the championship game since 2000.

Then there is the Act II and the rubber match between Creighton and UConn. Both teams took the road game in the regular season series. The Bluejays advanced to the semifinals with a trilling 85-81 double overtime win over DePaul in the quarterfinals, while the Huskies defeated Villanova in decisive fashion to close out Day 2.

The winners of Friday night's games will advance to Saturday night's championship game at The Garden, where they will play for the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
