Illinois DE Whitney Mercilus will forgo his senior season and enter the 2012 NFL draft.

Listed at 6-foot-4, 265, Mercilus broke out as a junior to lead the NCAA with 16 sacks, also tying Simeon Rice's single-season school record. He forced an incredible nine fumbles, ranking second all-time in college history. A first-team All-American, Mercilus' other stats include a Big Ten-high 22.5 tackles for loss, and he earned Ted Hendricks Award honors as the nation's top defensive end. The track record suggests he'll be a surefire first-round pick.

Would really be nice in a 4-3 scheme! Not sure of the fit with a 3-4. I like the guy though.

He'd look good in red but that OT from Stanford would look better!

Did you watch the Fiesta bowl? I honed in on Martin and DeCastro all game for draft purposes. DeCastro is very good. Id take him. Martin will be a bust. Hes soft and plays very weak. A bull rusher will blow over him and a speed rusher will have no problem getting past him. Guys a guaranteed bust.

As for Mercilus, I would like him, but the fact hes only produced anything this year alone worries me. Consistency is valued, thats why Luck is the #1 pick. There are better players each year, such as RG3 this year, but Luck is always consistent. Von Miller was consistent. This guy, I dont know hardly anything about him.

Then Riley Reiff is a guaranteed bust too because he looked bad in his bowl game. You can't judge a guy based on 1 game, especially calling him a guaranteed bust. Plus, I don't think he was all that bad in the game. Granted, I didn't focus in on him but, if he was that bad, I think I would have noticed.

Love his potential, but has some questionable technique issues. I would say that he is a late 1st, early 2nd prospect right now, but with loads of potential.

I dont want him because he's a 4-3 end, but I'm def psyched that he's coming. He could very well push a talented player, that might otherwise have already been selected, down to our spot @ 13.
