The pain of losing a child simply can't be measured and barely survived. To cause that death by accident has to be soul crushing. Thoughts and prayers out to the Heap family and especially Todd.

I hope his loved ones keep an eye on him and he does not do something foolish to himself due to the painful guilt which as stated will never leave him but as also stated he is needed for his remaining family

My buddy & I were discussing this very thing yesterday. We both have daughters & his is about the same age as Todd's. Very tragic.

Sadly, this is pretty common in the United States. 50 backover accidents happen each week resulting in 48 injured and 2 dead (on average). Backover accidents are the number one cause of non-traffic injuries for children under the age of 15. Frontover accidents are number two.

Such horrible news. My heart just aches hearing this.

About 30 years ago, family friends of ours had the exact same thing happen. They had a big diesel pickup and the mom was backing out of the garage. However she couldn't see that her 4 year old daughter was behind the truck and accidently ran over her. She didn't make it. I was only 10 or so at the time but I could still see the pain in our friends face at the funeral. It wasn't her fault but she could never forgive herself.

:(

The same thing happened to one of my cousins over 50 years ago - they were farmers, toddler got out of the house, was playing in the drive, my cousin didn't see him in his big tractor and backed over him. They still mourn to this day
