He spoke at a luncheon at my church today! Spoke for almost 2 hours! What a great guy. Didn't realize he has a child who suffers from Downs Syndrome...

The guy has an incredible perspective on life... no surprise he has risen to such great heights...

Unfortunately, I was only able to shake his hand and tell him how much I appreciate his approach to the game and the way he conducts himself off the field. He is a DEEPLY religious person and when I mentioned how much I respect his style and approach, his quick response was - "It's not about me or about baseball, it's about Jesus... It works for me...".

He's got an awra about him that is about as engaging as I have ever experienced... What a presence...

Actually, during the Q&A period, he was peppered with comments about how much we would love to see him make the desert his home!
A coach for the Cardinals (Dave McKay (sp?)) lives here in Scottsdale and belongs to my church - that is how we got Pujols to be there today... So who knows!

Regarding Eckstein, Pujols went out of his way to bring him up and of course, had nothing but GREAT things to say about him! Thinks he will be a tremendous addition to the D-Backs...

LMAO!!! So true Jon... However, for all the wrong reason, my Yankees decided to give A-Wad a new, 10 year contract this past offseason, and in so doing, sealed their fate with the greatest JYNX to ever play the game... I don't believe the Yanks will ever win another championship as along as that cancer is wearing the vaunted pinstripes...
Oh man - let's not ruin a great thread by bringing A-Wad into the discussion!!!

Hey, you brought him up...

More impressive is that Isabella, the daughter with Down's, is not even his own, but his wife's, whom he adopted after they were married.

I've been lucky to have met a number of famous people in my life (athletes, politicians, corporate leaders...), and I would put Pujols up with any of the more famous names... He is truly an amazing human being...
Regarding the issue of Downs - not only did he freely and willingly accept Isabella, through his Pujols Family Foundation, he does great things for kids afflicted with Downs... He makes an annual excursion to the Dominican Repub. and takes care of nearly 1,000 extremely poor kids and families... He specifically addressed a situation where a family had a 6 year old girl with Downs. He showed a video of the situation and it truly was one of the most gut-wrenching things I have ever seen... That girl is now in excellent care and will remain in that care for the rest of her life, thanks to Pujols...
Great stuff for sure and while I want the D-Backs to win tonight, I'd lvoe to see Albert go 4 for 4 with four dingers!!
