Despite having a massive spotlight on his status with the Dallas Cowboys amid an ongoing contract situation, Micah Parsons reportedly showed up for an offseason workout with the Cowboys on Monday. Just by showing up, Parsons helped ease some of the concerns about a possible holdout situation brewing in Texas for one of the league's top defensive players.

It is worth noting that the workouts going on with the Cowboys are voluntary, and few would have batted an eye if Parsons decided not to show up even without the contract situation brewing. But Parsons showing up helps demonstrate that the former Penn State star is serious about backing up his talk about being more of a leader for the team going into his fifth season in the NFL.

It is even more notable that Parsons showed up because the Cowboys are going through their first offseason under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer. Schottenheimer was promoted to the position of head coach after last season, but it is always good to make appearances and avoid any unnecessary tension for the start of a new era whenever and however possible.

Parsons is hoping to sign a new contract with the Cowboys before the start of the 2025 NFL season. He and the Cowboys have been closely monitored this offseason as Parsons could be one of the highest-paid non-quarterbacks in the league when all is said and done. It may just be a matter of fine-tuning the last few specific details on the contract, as these thing tend to be.
