Two years ago, the Denver Broncos signed veteran fullback Michael Burton to a one-year contract on March 17, 2023. Last year, they brought him back on a one-year deal on March 13, 2024.

It's now March 19 and Burton remains a free agent in 2025. That might change soon.

"At this point it would be a surprise if Burton isn’t back for a third year with the Broncos," KUSA-TV's Mike Klis wrote in a story published Monday.

Burton, 33, has spent time with six NFL teams, including a two-year run in Denver from 2023-2024. He started his career with the Detroit Lions in 2015 and later had stops with the Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints (under Sean Payton, Washington (since-renamed) Commanders and Kansas City Chiefs before reuniting with Payton with the Broncos.

Used primarily as a blocker, Burton has rushed 14 times for 17 yards, seven first downs and one touchdown over the last two seasons while adding 13 receptions for 73 yards, five first downs and one score as a receiver out of the backfield.

We'll see if Burton returns for a third season in Denver.
