Even when they're considered blue-chip players coming out of high school, not every highly-rated recruit ends up panning out.

Such was the case for edge rusher Kechaun Bennett, the former four-star who came aboard to Michigan football in 2021. Bennett had all the immeasurables of being that next great Wolverines pass rusher, but he never quite managed to see the field outside of special teams and garbage time.

In the spring game, he did well, managing three tackles with 1.5 for loss. But that appears to be his last performance wearing the maize and blue as he has entered the transfer portal.

Bennett had four tackles in four different games in 2024 -- against Minnesota, Oregon, Northwestern, and Alabama. His only other registered three tackles, all coming in 2023, came against Bowling Green and Indiana.

With Bennett moving on, the Wolverines will likely be leaning more on some of the younger talent in the edge rusher room, including Devon Baxter, Lugard Edokpayi, and incoming true freshman Nate Marshall.
